Now that little ole Navy has beaten Notre Dame 3 out of 4 years, the Irish coaches and fans are suddenly bitching about the meanies at Navy "chop blocking" their defenders - when its really just cut blocks like they've been doing for years. <div>
</div><div>Anyway, check out #56 from ND (left defensive end) stomping on a Navy player. Of course, the Navy guy shows his discipline and probably just laughed in his face and reminded the former high school All-American he was getting his *** whipped by a 5'8" slot back.<div>
</div><div>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLy9X4tIgyY</div><div>
</div><div>Reason #1,489 to hate Notre Dame.</div><div>

& probably says nothing harsh back. I guess that is why the marines don't have a football team......56 would have been dead before he hit the ground.

As a current resident of Annapolis, I really wish State would set up a home-home with the Naval Academy. This would be an awesome road trip for most State fans.

Both would be great road trips and also great home games. I remember when we played Navy back in the 80s in Jackson. It was a special game.

They still have to go through Marine Corp OCS to get their Marine Corp Commission. I seriously doubt any of them don't make it but you just don't show up and get the title US Marine. You have to earn it rather you are a Officer or enlisted man. The largest percentage of officers are normal college guy who go throught the bull dog program. They attend OCS while in college and once graduated they get their commission. And yes the mascot of the the Marine Crop is the Bull Dog. We got it during WWI during the battle of Belleau Wood where the Germans nicknamed the Marines devil dogs because the Marines were some bad *** son of bitches that would not quit no matter what they threw at them and ended up kicking the Germans asses.

Over the years, he served with Marines who were Naval Academy grads. He always told me that the Academy grads were either the highest-quality, nicest officers he ever served with, or were total ********....there was no in-between.

BTW, one of his executive officers I knew was an Academy grad- great guy.

Not only that, but I bet his heart was palpitating being around all those Navy guys....and he was wearing black-lace panties screaming, "TOUCH ME! I WANT TO BE DIRTY!"

All Mid shipmen who become Marine Officers have to spend six weeks at Qunico VA doing what was nick named Bull dog OCS.

Here is a article from 2009 in the New Your post article about Naval Academy Grads in the Marine corp.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/01/AR2009030102053.html

["The midshipmen who graduate as Marine officers will spend six months in an officer training course at Quantico. "]

Here from a Marine Corp Web Page.

http://officer.marines.com/marine/making_marine_officers/commissioning_programs/us_naval_academy

</p>
  • To enroll, students must receive a nomination by a member of Congress or the President of the United States
  • Students, who hold the rank of midshipmen, attend training and classes in Annapolis, MD
  • Training begins with Plebe Summer, seven weeks of physical training, naval education, and moral and ethical development
  • The curriculum offers courses within 22 majors in addition to military training
  • Tuition, housing, and medical and dental care are paid for by the Navy
  • Only a select number of midshipmen will become Marine Officers
  • After graduation, these midshipmen receive their commission as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, then attend The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, VA

It's not a corporation (Corp). Yes, Marine option USNA grads go through an OCS (Bulldog) which is half as long as what candidates from other colleges go through. Probably because their 4 years at the Academy has already weeded out the non-hackers, which is what OCS is designed to do in 12 weeks. I didn't much care for the USNA guys at The Basic School. I thought most of them were arrogant and cliquey.

my comment was meant to imply, that if a football team was formed consisting of a bunch of marines, let's say, trained @ Paris Island (the crazy marines I know all trained there), 56 probably would have not gotten away w/ that....that's all

If I was calling him a "little *****," I would have said "look at the little Navy *****." I was referring to his stature as compared to ND's # 56, the Navy player is much smaller, thus the "little Navy player" & as to the reaction of the smaller statured Navy player after being stomped by the larger in statured # 56 ND player, it showed alot of poise on the smaller in stature Navy players part to get up & say "hey larger in stature # 56 ND player, was that really necessary ?" versus getting up swinging.

That's all *****

Same with West Point Grads. My best friend at Ft Bragg was a Pointer. The biggest dick there was also a pointer. Both were from the class of 83.

I just watched that video again and it appears the ND guy (56) throws a sucker punch before getting up to step on the Navy guy. Damn, ND just can't handle getting their *** whipped. It was funny how Kelly talked post-game about Navy running the "veer" and doing all kinds of "new things" on offense. Uh no, coach, they handed it to the fullback and or pitched it to the slot back - or the QB kept it. Same thing they've been doing for 10 years.

Saw "The Experts" on ESPNU yesterday. I thought they made a good point about ND - no 18 year old being recruited today knows that team as a powerhouse like the old farts do. So, the use of "tradition" falls on deaf ears now - high school players now look at USC, Texas and Florida as the powerhouses. Good point, I thought...

Look, I see you have a couple sources here. Look to the left. Do you see my picture? Yea, that is what you think. Wings of Gold in front of our beloved Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. What do you think that means? Could it be? Yes, it is. I am an active duty Marine Corps Officer and a Naval Aviator. I am a MSU graduate (sometimes I wonder if I am the only USMC-NA from MSU) and I have literally lived with guys from the academy.

The Bulldog program that you are describing occurs as The Basic School. It is NOT OCS or bootcamp in any possible way and it is not even at the same place as OCS. The program is run primarily by brand new boot Lts and gives the Mids a taste of what the USMC is about. It is not a weeding tool and it is NOT a prerequisite to commission into the USMC. There have been plenty of people who have commissioned into USMC without attending that.

I know your heart is in the right place here, but I have first hand experience.

ETA:
Leatherneck is the name of the summer program that the academy guys go to for "the taste of the corps".

The Bulldog Course is the name of the 6 week summer program that NAVY ROTC studs (Also known as Midshipmen) go to. That is where you are confused. NROTC Midshipmen DO go to OCS. Naval Academy Midshipmen DO NOT go to OCS.

I know of several. A close friend of mine is a NFO (though not technically a NA) and MSU graduate ('91 or '92); he was Blue Angel #7 for the '01 - '02 seasons (or thereabouts). He is scheduled to get command of a squadron at Cherry Point, MCAS next summer.

Also, thanks for shaping up the "Corp." vs. "Corps" issues; someone should verse our president on the same issue - couldn't find the speech flub he made last year. NOTHING irritates a Marine more than this mistake....except perhaps when called a "Soldier."
