Just talked to a friend that said Mullen offered him a scholarship yesterday. Philip Rivers brother. His dad is an MSU grad so maybe we can pull this one.

Oh and he's 6'6"

I see that the family is from Alabama. That makes me wonder how in the world Philip Rivers made it out of the south to play his collegiate football, and do we even have a remotely realistic shot at this guy considering his pedigree.

Also, if we go to a bowl this year and become a really hot ticket with QB recruits, how many should we sign this year considering that we only signed one in the '09 class?

NC State and Ole Miss. Auburn offered as a TE. He has that funky 3/4 motion and all and just wasn't a big time prospect. Cutcliffe, in a rare insightful moment, thought enough of him as a QB to offer but Eli was a year ahead of him. Chuck Amato liked him all along and he was rock solid to NC St. with little opposition.

It happens that way sometimes. Rivers very simply wasn't a big time recruit who showed everybody they made a mistake.

Do you remember Larry Friday? Wasn't he around 6'5"?

says 6'4". That's pretty tall for any DB. I know that some of the corners back in the day were 6'3" and such, but I don't think I've ever seen a DB that's 6'6".

Not that I think that would be a bad thing- someone that tall with the speed and athleticism to play DB would be awesome. Of course, they would probably get a serious look at WR or TE I'm sure.

I think Micheal Gholar was 6'5", though.
