We’re praying here that the whole universe responds to the gift of God in the same kind of way. ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ That tells us, of course, that there’s somewhere that God’s will is being done and the implication is that it isn’t being done very much on earth.

The problem comes with us. Because for us to do God’s will is for us to make choices, to make changes. And we’re very reluctant to do that, so, for us, doing God’s will has to be learned; it doesn’t just come automatically for humankind as it seems to for the rest of his creation.

So we ask for help, the help we need to do God’s will. We ask for our lives to show God’s glory, in the way that the angel’s singing God’s praises, the stars and circling planets are reflecting God’s beauty and glory just by being what they are. It’s as if there’s a huge cosmic choir or orchestra playing God’s tune and God’s purpose is simply expressed in the order and beauty of things. So we ask that we may join in that great universal harmony and do God’s will in that way.


I'd recommend you find a better source than me if you really want to know. I wouldn't just spitball segments of the Book in mockery, but that's me.

As long as you believe in something good, that's has to do with the life we're in right now....I say great. If you're hoping for the end to come and take you to salvation....I say there's something wrong with that.

You were talking about what Christians believe...because the Bible talks about the Apocylipse, so I shared something else the Bible states.
Does the old testament say it was right? Christianity wasn't a big deal B.C. You may want to take this up with someone else or drop it all together before you have to destroy one of the more knowledgeable posters on this forum.

Totally agree and I think it may tie into the verse you partially posted. Our prayer his that his Will (good things) be done here and now on Earth. Keep telling the layman (me) about the Bible and you'll have some of our biblical scholars explain it to you in short order. Is that what you want? I've sought counsel here re: scriptural interpretation a couple of times over the years.

19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

I don't know scripture, I don't want to know scripture. I was just pointing out that we should try to make our world the best it can be, and not await the second coming with joy. If it's out of context, I apologize to Christians everywhere. I do not laugh or mock your religion. I just take offense to those that will the apocalypse as if it's a welcome thing for life on earth to end.

Please, westboro Baptist is a rogue church, not a real church anyway. Are you saying 10% of christians believe in bombing those clinics? shooting up planned parenthood? 50% support it? Your argument is completely irrational. The only people in the US who are in favor of killing innocents are the liberals who believe that the only people not entitled to life, liberty and happiness are the unborn. The only rational explanation for your argument is you don't have one. There is a big difference between Christians now and Radical Muslims now. If you are saying there isn't, you are just a koolaid drinker.
