Right after his grandfathers funeral, getting beat by Auburn and getting benched they give his a drug test the next day. That all happened in like a 5 day period. I'd say they wanted him gone.
Does this effect the game Saturday? What happens if Conner Shaw gets dinged?

Connor Shaw has had one good game in his career and that was against the worst team in the league. If he's ineffective or gets hurt, they have no backup QB now.
