Said if there was ever a team who would fire their coach at halftime, it would be Rutgers. Har-de-har-har-har-har.

It would give us a better chance to win. I'd be for it.

Not a fan of Trump, but the admin can sell out Maryland if they assure Trump will come on the field at halftime, tell Flood he's a disassssta, fired, and will replaced with someone who will build a wall around the state of Rutgers paid for by TTFP.

Given the trend of firing coaches midseason seems to have gone from unacceptable a decade ago to commonplace recently, how early in the season can this go?

--Mike Clark, Omaha, Neb.

At the current rate it's only a matter of time before someone fires its coach at halftime of the season opener. My money is on Rutgers.

Really, it is not that bad a comment. Flood is certainly on the hotseat for his W-L record. Add in all the off-the-field issues, it is somewhat surprising to an outsider that Flood is not already among the mid-season firings.

And if we were to be losing to Howard or Norfolk State at halftime, yes he should be fired then and there.

Given Rutgers missed its chance to fire Flood for-cause, and is behind the curve with every decision that needs to be made, it wouldn't surprise me if we kept Flood at the end of the season, then fired him after the first game in 2016.

How did they miss their chance? Did you miss the announcement that the NCAA was looking into the infraction?

See what Illinois did with Beckman - that was the model

You'd rather wait until the NCAA weighs in on it instead of acting while he was already suspended?

Love it, we have so many disturbed people posting here, but you are definitely not one of them. I feel like I am in an alternate universe.

I can buy that they are waiting for a stronger hammer (NCAA or drug investigation) but would have preferred they suspend him pending the investigation.

Feldman, Mandel, Thamel, Forde..who cares they are all the same and make Polti and the nj.com crew seem reasonable.
