Unfortunately, I think he is most likely Louisville’s to lose. It is interesting that his visit was not announced in advance, at least that I am aware of.

He would be a great get. Not sure if he can shoot the three. But he does everything else offensively very well. He would kill it in a 5 out system designed to maximize your strengths like Pope’s.

Just the vibe you are getting or has there been some kind of smoke? I still think Pope needs to land a high school talent like Stokes. Top 5 player at least. Even with the transfer portal I think it would be nice to get a big name although ik we will be ok without the “super stars”

I just think he is from Louisville, Kelsey is doing a great job and they have money. I don’t have any inside info. But, Louisville has the advantage of being the hometown program. That may not ultimately get them Stokes. But, it will make it an uphill battle for everyone else.

I worry about Kinney as well. I am hoping he ends up at KY.

The guy was born in Louisville I think he’s been all over. Yep. I checked. He left at 9 and moved to California then many different places

I have heard his older brother or cousin has gang ties in Louisville and the state of KY. Thus attending an in state school has always seemed out of the question. Not sure how true that is, or maybe that has been cleared up. Personally I believe UofL has a much better chance of landing Kinney than Stokes.

Honestly man I don't worry about anything with Pope ( I know I freaked out when the portal started but not ever again) . He will get the players he deems necessary to fit the system he wants to run and that wants to be at UK! In the end we will be just fine regardless.

I agree to a large stint. Stokes is of special interest because of his ties to Ky. If Pope doesn’t land him, I am sure he will have a really good replacement.

Where were you last year. They were really good. Kelsey is a hell of a recruiter and coach.
I watched them win 27 games with a garbage schedule and conference, get their asses beaten by UK, and then listened to them lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Creighton.

Kelsey is good. I will not take that away from him. The guy is even pretty likeable. That said, he's not at UK. We have so much to offer despite no real recent success outside of last year — Louisville doesn't have half of that. We have better trophy cases than entire other conferences (don't quote me on that. I'm being hyperbolic). We have insane boosters and fans. We have the best exposure. Our university has the broader network of alumni and former players.

Louisville's last great season was 2013*, and I'm not sure how anyone can try to state otherwise.

27 games is a hell of an accomplishment in any league. The ACC was down, but not paper weights either. They were ranked in the top 20 most, if not all of the season. They gave us a hell of a game in Rupp. While they were never a top 5 team, at least for any one who understood the ACC was down last year, they were a good, well coached team.

Lol older brother or cousin with gang ties. Where do you get this stuff? There’s also a rumor he won’t attend school in the state of Kentucky. Lots of rumors and no facts.

We might have to agree to disagree there.

And I'm not disputing any of that. That doesn't take away from what I said.

You basically said they have sucked since the kid can remember. Last year was not sucking and their trajectory is right there with ours at this point.

I agree they sucked before last year, basically since Pitino left.

"Sucked" is relative, Man. I don't know what to tell you. We got rid of a HOF coach for the same results UL had last year.

I'm not gonna debate it any further.

That is a joke. Louisville won like 5 games the year before last. Kelsey came in and remade that roster and was 27-8, 18-2 in the ACC. It was one of the best coaching jobs in the NCAA last year. He had injuries as well. Pryor, Johnson, Waterman and Traore all were injured a large part of last year.

I get it. It is Louisville. You don’t want to give them any credit. But you lose credibility, when you say they suck or were not good last year, even with major injury issues like us.

They should get a little credit. But you have to admit they didn't beat one ranked team. Then they got ran off the court in the 1st round.

Hopefully the ACC is a little better this year and we will see what happens. Not getting my hopes up though as it looks like Carolina could be pretty bad again.

Again....I'm giving them a little credit for the turn around, but the brakes need to be pumped a little as most of the hype is coming off a season in which they didn't beat anyone.

I get your feelings on this... I have said this before but I don't think he wants to play in the state of KY at all. I believe he wants to play college somewhere other than his home state. I think he ends up at Kansas.

I am a UK fan. Have always loved the Cats. But I try to be objective. They were one of the 20 best teams in the regular season. That is a good season for a team that struggled for the last few years to even have a winning record. Whether you agree or not, most pundits have them in the top 10 this year. Kelsey has done well in HS and Portal recruiting. He may fall flat this year. But, he has done everything right up to now and is a hell of a recruiter. That is my main point. If he gets one advantage in recruiting, he is going to exploit that to his advantage.

Like I said I am not sure how accurate it is, but I´m sure you can google and find articles about the families gang ties. Which was the reason for him to have relocated so often.
