is saying that Mullen has been in Miami all day today interviewing with The U. Frankie Frangie? I have no information about that guy's credibility.

Props to Saildawg on BDJ if true.

I find it hard to believe he would bail on us before he even coaches his first bowl game as our HC. Just doesn't make sense. This ispretty closeto alateral move, and I don't think Dan is looking for a lateral move.

Do you know how much easier it is to win a national championship at Miami than at State? Hell, everyone better hope that the BCS stays in tact because even jobs like Boise $*%+%#+ State are better jobs than mid level SEC jobs now and if there becomes a playoff, State and Ole Miss will fall even further down the pecking order when it comes to finding good coaches. Above average pay and an easier path to a national championship. Why slug it out with programs that have 10 times the budget and 100 times more will to cheat when you can beat up on sissies and still win a NC?

Are you baked out of your gourd?

Maybe its not one of the top destinations in college football but its definitely a step up with a much easier road to the BCS.

I'm sure some of what he's said is coach speak, but I highly doubt Mullen wants to rebuild again. That's what he faces at Miami. The pay will be about the same if he leaves. Our facilities are better, and he has his players and coaches in place. Dan may be young, but I doubt he wants to have to go through rebuilding another roster, and rebuilding another coaching staff. Doesn't make sense.

The potential 5 years down the road at Miami may be better than MSU based on conference and the state he's recruiting in, but for right now, he has to go to Miami and rebuild. He already has his foundation at MSU.

Very true that the path at Miami is easier, but Dan Mullen doesn't seem like the kind of guy to take the easy way. If he was, he never would have come to MSU. This was the impossible job where we would never be relevant in football. If Dan continues to win, we will never hate him. But if Dan wins 8 games each of the next 4 years at Miami, he might get fired.

The upside at Miami is better. But the challenge for himself to win at MSU I think will be the driving force for him staying here.

They are 7-5 and going to a third straight bowl. Not to mention they have had some decent recruiting classes while Shannon was there. Not sure where the rebuilding is coming from

lateral move?

the average NFL team has twice as many players from "tha U" as State has in the whole league.. Miami can contend for a NC any given year on talent alone.

Rebuilding means different things for different programs. For us it means getting to a bowl game consistently. For Miami, it's getting to 9, 10, and 11wins consistently. If they felt like they were in a good position, they wouldn't have fired their HC. Dan will have to go there and bring in his players, and rebuild for where Miami wants to be. They want to be at the double digit win mark, and they aren't there. That means if Miami wants to hire Dan, they want him to come in and change the program from where it currently isand take it to another level. That sounds like rebuilding to me.

row. Miami is a **** hole. If a coach goes there and doesn't win the ACC and Florida State does their fried. Who the hell wants to coach like that. One another thing, Miami was good once, things have changed, ESPN broadcast a game on every channel every night. SEC has got mega exposure. I don't think Dan was there, and if he goes it may be to put leverage on MSU go get off their *** and pony up on some promises.

I'm going to be waiting patiently for the hammer to fall on us. I don't like how two of the best things to happen for our athletic program could jump ship after 2 years. Gives me an eerie feeling...

That isnt rebuilding

According to Scout they finished 3rd in recruiting on 2008, 24th in 2009, and 14th last year. There is plenty of talent on campus right now to win

"Rebuilding" is not the appropriate description for Miami.

If Mullen goes, winning the conference, getting into the BCS bowl games, and winning a national championship will be the immediate tasks.

Don't fool yourself
He could compete for a NC next year....They are loaded with speed

Only has to beat VT & FSU to win the ACC and be in a BCS game. And therefore I have become a Hurricane fan. I've watched them play quite a bit over the last few years. They have talent, but not enough, IMO, to win a national title. It not what it was. Is there enough to win the ACC, sure. Is there enough to win the SEC western division, not even close. They lost a commit today. That leaves them with six.

Frangie comes across as having good sources all across Florida. however, he's a big gator and thought mullen was no big loss to UF when we hired him. Seemed like he hardly knew what mullen did at florida. I think UF's offense since dan left proves the guy might not be as connected as he appears.
Frangie and his cohort (Balou) also referred to MSU as a cesspool when mullen announced he was leaving. So he's not exactly unbiased.

All this adds to nothing. its obvious that miami's interested. DM would be stupid not to listen. Let's just hope he says 'no'.
