The spectacle that was last night would have been an over the top spectacle without him.

ESPN has been jackin it everywhere for the last few weeks. The network turned into The LeBron Watch for a week. It was talked about on friggin baseball shows even.

Had he held a press conference to announce, ESPN would have had a 1 hour show leading up to the press conference and would have talked about it for 3 hours after the announcement.

It would have been the same damn thing as what ended up happening, even if all he did was schedule a press conference.

I agree it was over the top, but it was going to be absurd whether or not he had a hand in the matter.

This entire thread is a rehash of how should pretty much be named Shooter McGavin.

LeBron is great, and will continue to be. He will end up as one the top 3 players of all-time, he made a very unselfish move by coming to Miami. I don't understand why people can't see that, who cares what he acts like at a restaurant. The Miami Heat will win the 2011 NBA Title going away, write it down.

LeBron is not even close to the top 3 right now.He has a **** ton of winning that he needs to get to work on. Right now he is still in the class with Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, and Karl Malone.

Basically I disagree with everything you typed.

LeBron has got to win a bare minimum of 4 or 5 NBA titles to even get in the discussion for the top 3 and I just don't see him doing it by the end of his career. I figure he has about10-12 more years in the NBA so he best get on it.

Suppose the Heat win the title next year and Wade wins the MVP during the regular season and the playoffs, does that warrant putting LeBron in the company of Magic,Bird, Kareem,Jordan, or even Kobe?</p>

If LeBron, at the end of his career, has won 5 NBA Titles, I don't care how he got them, then yes I would put him in right up there with all of those guys.

Wrong about M. J. met him at Old Waverly when he was playing there. Nice guy, and signed autographs for every kid who came up to him.

it was the hour long special dedicated to a guy who hasn't won anything.

And unfortunately, it was more of the fact he went to the Heat that most are upset. If he would have stayed in Cleveland, the spectacle would have been ok.

Very good point. Gotta love emotional inconsistency in sports.

My kids were a part of the Mo Williams camp last year and I can confirm that Lebron is a complete jerk. He was supposed to show up at the camp finale that day from 9-12 or at least that's what we were told. Everyone waited and waited that day. The kids kept asking where is Lebron? He finally showed up at 11:50, walked out with his shades on and looked totally pissed off to be there. I never saw him speak to not even one child. He gave a 2 minute speech filled with cliches' about "you can do anything". They took a very disorganized group photo and my child happened to be sitting right beside him. My child turned and looked at Lebron and grabbed his bicep and said "wow big muscles" and Lebron never even looked at him. He acted like he was way too good to speak or interact with anyone there. After maybe 15 minutes he and his posse bolted for the door and were out of there. Every parent I spoke to was upset how he acted and vowed not to send their kids to that camp again. I think he is way too caught up with himself. He hasn't won anything yet.

If one person is a jerk and one person is a nice humble guy and good with kids, I pretty much know who I am going to like. Lebron is a great athlete but he has proved he is not a good leader. A good leader never quits no matter what. I can't remember the last time I saw "the king" lead his team from behind to anything.

Call me stupid or old fashioned but lebron doesnt have the makeup of other good leaders like Jordan, Bird, Magic, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and by making this decision he never will. However, he may prove himself to be a better Pippen.
