I was told that Learfield Communications (agency that handles MSU athletics' advertising) was told by Stricklin to leave "several" open commercial breaks on the jumbotron during the 4th quarter.
Translation...less commercials in the 4th quarter and more music being played.
Hopefully we now won't get the buzzkillin' Columbus Orthopedic commercial after we convert 4th and long with 37 seconds left in the 4th quarter against Auburn.

This is great. Our stadium became a sell out last year. The jumbotron is just so dominating and has more power over the crowd than anyone ever thought. Hell I bet Mullen and the coaching staff wish that the thing wasn't a distractor for the guys on the sideline too.

Great step Scott! (applause)

Outstanding.

I hope we also got rid of the Hangover. Just have a player/coach/former player/notable alum say "time to let the dogs out" or something to that effect. Then straight to Chuck Smooth.

I'll go the opposite.
While it's now slightly dated, I still enjoy that one. It was an excellent addition and has some staying power.

I'd like to see a Netflix sponsorship. Netflix sure as hell doesn't mind spending money to advertise. And the ads could be situation-appropriate movie clips. Like Mel Gibson before the big battle scene in Braveheart.

do away with the "hail state" after each first down

If you are going to try and copycat a lame tradition, pick a better school than ole miss to steal from!

Bless his heart ...

and that's a god-awful terrible ad. I wish it would just go away completely. About the only thing I like is the shell game (I suppose the Texaco race is pretty good too) but it was better when it was Zatarain's crawfish as opposed to whoever it is now with the bulldogs.

There are a few more ads that should bite the dust too. If they've gotta have them, they could at least use people who speak English and don't insult our intelligence.

The clip is fine and funny. They just need to stop it before it gets to the "Baha Men" version of the song. Come in faster with Chuck Smoove.

So, which is more likely?

That Scott Strickland rabidly reads the SixPack and is responding to our every whim? OR The changes announced yesterday to the jumbotron replay rules meant that Scott has far more discretion over what plays when?

Before now you were only allowed to show one replay, so that left a lot of time to fill especially during a review when people are just sitting around anyway. They sold advertising to cover that review dead time since they couldn't show replays. I really think you are overestimating the power of the pack with this one. Scott led the group that changed the rules so he probably knew exactly how he wanted to use that extra time. He;s definitely doing it to make the gameday atmosphere better but he's not doing it because the pack said so.

But just in case, please kill the stupid kiss cam. It's not fun for me to see people who paid good money for a ticket get embarrassed in front of 56,000 people.

They do that now? Never realized it in the student section. I am not a fan of that lameness. Might as well all join arms and "lock" the Davis-Wade.

So does the PA guy say "First down, Haiiiillllll State!" and the crowd actually joins in? I seriously never heard it last year, but it is hard to hear anything in the student section unless everyone is quiet during one of those awful ads.

Hell, get creative. Put something like this on the moo tube instead of a commercial: "This crappy music break sponsored by Templeton Cadillac."

It's just a mood killer.

The crowd is amped from the "more cowbell" clip and the team running out of the locker room. Then, everyone gets quiet to hear the Hangover clip. It was a good idea, but it is an awkward lead-in to Chuck Smooth. Something quicker would be a better transition, so that the crowd and players stay fired up. Take the energy from the runout straight into Chuck Smooth.

Plus, like someone else said, the first "who let the dogs out" that you hear was from the Baja Men, which absolutely ruins any chance it had. I've always said it was a good idea, and a nice attempt, but it just didn't flow.

Whenever I'm drunk and that ad comes on the jumbotron

I begin yelling at the screen, demanding to know where the flavor is. I have a problem.
