I have mixed opinions about it. I probably would have preferred he take the Stoops / Mayfield "no comment" route. He was asked. He answered. Striker can back it up. Maybe it needed to be said. Striker seems to be saying "Let scoreboard decide the magnitude of SEC greatness". Nothing wrong about that.

I mostly lean towards what S22 says on this. Though I'm sure Striker's comments are going to get blown up in the Tennessee locker room into something they can pin on their lockers.

I personally think that making a "bulletin board" statement is way over exaggerated. Striker's statement isn't going to make UT play harder anymore than it's going to make our squad play harder. But if the Vols win, Striker will have to eat crow. Happens all the time. The bigger picture is that he is confident, and I would rather have him confident than not. Besides, I wonder the same thing.

I believe it can only hurt OU when one of their players publicly talks smack like that. Kinda reminds me of when Larry Berdine called out USC and we all know how that went. My philosophy is just to be quiet and let your play do the talking.

Maybe you are right, but OU holds a 20-10 series record over SEC teams excluding Missouri and A&M. Add them into the count, OU is 125-56 against the current SEC teams. Berdine's remarks didn't do any harm. OU's pathetic play did them in. One of the poorest showing for a really good team in OU history. Once the game begins, the players forget about any smack. Besides, Eric's remark wasn't much of anything. He just posed a question. Please don't blame Striker if OU comes out on the losing end. The reasons will be evident. OU by 5.

Oh I'm not saying it will be Strikers fault if we lose just like it wasn't Berdines. All I'm saying is I don't see the point. After all, we are only 1 game removed from getting blown out by an ACC team. Lets get up there in the among the elites first before we start talking smack.
