I think we should start outsourcing halftime shows the HBCUs

It'd be nice if the people whining about the state of the student section every once in a while would throw a tiny little compliment to the FMB members. They are required to sit through every minute of every game, even if it's Maine, 3-2 Auburn, homeless Tulane, or Henig trying to beat LSU. They don't have to put band on their schedules every year but a lot of them do because they love supporting their university.

I think the BAND looks damn good in the picture.

Maybe that will get the students to stay in the stands because the first time we played Jackson State back in 2009 I remember sitting in the student section, during heavy rains and a blow out, and hearing a girl say "I stayed through the rain just to see their band play."

This ******** is so Genespage it`s unbelievable. It`s been going on over there for years. Obsessed, no-life alumni throwing insults and un-warranted & and un-wanted advice at students about how to act at football games. Beating their chest and saying "we`ll cut your ticket allotment or we`ll sit you on top of the stadium"...."we don`t care how crappy the program WE`VE put together for you to watch we demand you sit there and watch it til the end". It really is sickening and I just can`t fathom at all how these people think. If we put a good product on the field...the students will be there. If we don`t...they`ll leave. They have a lot more going on in their lives than the people who are bitching obviously.

Way to completely ignore the point of the original post. I don't personally care if students want to stay the whole game or not, but if most of the students leave by half time, even in a close game, why should we keep so many tickets available for students when there's a waiting list for revenue generating season tickets?

unrelated, and maybe genespage, the students really need to learn to do the Hey Song chant with the band. They're so fast/out of time that they make it sound terrible.

Wahhhh.

Croom was HC my 4 years of undergrad. You don't know struggle.

Yet I made every game but 1 in 4 years and never left unless it was under 5 mins left.

I don't think the bubble is going to burst. But college football is definitely past the peak. I think there'll be a slow decline in overall attendance for the next 5-10 years, then it will level off. We made a real smart move not adding much overall capacity in the current expansion.

Yes, thank you! My freshman year was 2002, Jackies last year. My final year was 2007, the year before Croom's only good year. I never got to see a competitive football as a student. So 17 all of y'all talking about "the product on the field". The last five years are arguably the best stretch of that length in MSU football history. Remember the year Jackie won the west? The west was terrible that year. The SEC, particularly the West, is better over the last 5 years than it ever has been.

All that said, I really don't care if you leave. Just don't make excuses about it.

i get it....people dont want to watch ****** football, but why even show up? what, they can only handle half a game of ****** football? if you dont want to watch mediocrity, why even come to the game knowing you are about to watch mediocrity? have the students not payed attention to anything this season?

students can do what they want, but its embarrassing to kickoff 0-0 with a full stadium and watch the clock hit 0:00 up a point with the student section 90% empty. they knew the team was not very good, so why leave when after they prove it?

When we stand in line for 6 hours to get tickets, pay almost 50 dollars for tickets, we have the right to leave when we want. If we start winning some games that mean something and not embarrassing ourselves, we'll start staying.

I think this proves the point of the original poster. Students pay $45 total for season tickets. Right now, you can't buy a single game non-student ticket for the Egg Bowl for less than $75. Cut the total number of student tickets available, and the school could make a lot more money than they make on student tickets.

We expect students to support the team regaurdless. If they won't, the no need to give those seats away when we can sell those tickets for good money.

Very true. I don't know how they figure attendence, but I have a hard time believing it was over 90% full Saturday night. All of the rows around us had at least 5 or more empty seats (that's more than 10% assuming 40ish seats per row). And I'd guess less than half of the people there were normal season ticket holders. Counting me & my wife, there were only 8 regulars out of the 20 or so that normally sit around us.

So us students left early oops. Sorry we have no interest in watching a bs team play what you old fans call football. I'm glad you are all ok with being mediocre every single year. We are constantly fed bs from Dan about chasing some imaginary championship in Atlanta and have made strides further away from there. We support as much as we can but it comes to a point where knowing what is going to happen as a state fan is enough. Please forgive us for trying to enjoy the 4 years we have before we all have to become hypocritical asses like yall. And for those that say we don't deserve tickets because we don't support state can go the hell away we pay more in tuition than any you ever have. It costs is about 50 bucks to buy season tickets as students, plus 3500 in in-state tuition. Season tickets in the sky deck cost what 125 at the most? We pay our dues and we make it what we can sorry we are tired of watching the same game over And over every week. We didn't go to this college to not pull f

When were you born? 92? You have no clue what mediocre means. I sat through Maine. I sat through Auburn 3-2. I've sat through tons of terrible games.

You don't deserve the tickets. There are plenty of others that don't use Mom and Daddy's money to buy those tickets that would stay. They'd pay full price for them, too. I saw students all week trying to sell their tickets, so don't give me some BS about "the game started being terrible"- you guys already knew you were just going to step in to make an appearance.

"We pay more in tuition"- more than likely your parents pay more in tuition. And hopefully they sat their asses in the seats when they went to school there the entire game, too.

Exactly. There's no point in offering so many at a discount when others are willing to stay and pay full price. Cut the allotment. Maybe that will entice students to get more serious about it in the future, but for now, it makes no sense to give it to a bunch of kids that really don't care to be there over drinking in the Junction with all of the other girls.
