So he can't tell people to go to the games but you can tell people what to say on a message board. Got it.

if i only make 1 game a year for that year I am away? Then at least I made it and stayed. I didn't say it isnt their right. I absolutely think if you are going to the game you should stay. Especially if that game is in question.

The excuse is right in front of your eyes and is totally legitimate. Our football program is in reverse and our students and many many others know that. How can you blame anyone for not wanting to watch that ****.

deadheaddawg plus 1. You have awful taste in music but I hear you cluckin' chickin'.....when it comes to football attendance.

Lol, I have great taste in music

Then the students shouldn't care if their allotment is cut in half and the rest are moved to the upper deck. Problem solved. Don't want to watch it fine, but don't take up prime space in the stadium. I assume you are ok with that

I wish I could post a video from my phone of the students rushing the ever living **** out of the "Hey Song" ("Rock and Roll, Part 2" for those of you who want correctedness). That would sound badass if everyone would just stay in time with the band.

DS, can you help a brotha out? How could I post a video from my iPhone?

You got to entertain those 17ers

If u want them to stay.

And a sloppy performance against whoever we played tonight barely kept me from changing the channel to see if any other channels had cooler commercials on.

I use to sit through the entirety of some pretty bad games as a student during the croom years, back when all the alumni were on their way back to Jackson after the 1st half... But I probably wouldn't have sat through all 4 quarters of today in the student section with cold beer calling my name.

Times, they are a changin'. Sell those seats to some alumni.

I agree with reducing the allottment down low but don't see why they should be shifted up top. Just reduce them. This is not an unprecedented action.

I'm not arguing this because I think they suck like others have posted. I just think the AD should maximize revenues for our smaller stadium and the students won't miss it if they aren't there anyway.

I really don't get why people care about this. Was your experience really ruined by the fact the students left early? I am not a student and I stayed the whole game. Had I not ridden with someone else, I probably would have left early. Why? Because I 17n wanted to and don't give a **** what anybody else thinks about it.

They might as well not have been there

I have always been an advocate of the students getting good seats like they have. But week after week this is embarassing. The section should be cut into 1/3 of what it is down low, the rest of those tickets be sold for big $, and the students thrown up into the Upper Deck. Pathetic. Week after week.
I haven't seen DWS that dead for a full game in a long time. They definitely didn't contribute to the atmosphere. Plus, half the east side at 1/5 capacity is an eye-sore.

Is it possible the crowd of studentry would have stayed a wee bit longer had the "homecoming " game been played in the afternoon, say around 4 PM with a conclusion of around 7 or 7:30 PM? That would have given them plenty of time to tank up before the game, run over a few small animals and children rushing back to tailgate proper, booze it up another hour or so, before hitting the frat houses and bars for that last blast of alcohol consumption.

With an opponent like BGU, maybe our AD should tell TV to go 17 themselves if they cannot get us on in the 4 PM slot. All that will be taken care of next year when the SEC network comes on board and the powerhouse SEC schools like MSU, Vandy, UK and whichever other bottom feeder chooses to play lackluster football gets all their games placed on pay per view or relegated to the SEC networks worst time slot, say 10:00 AM.

You guys make no sense

So us students left early oops. Sorry we have no interest in watching a bs team play what you old fans call football. I'm glad you are all ok with being mediocre every single year. We are constantly fed bs from Dan about chasing some imaginary championship in Atlanta and have made strides further away from there. We support as much as we can but it comes to a point where knowing what is going to happen as a state fan is enough. Please forgive us for trying to enjoy the 4 years we have before we all have to become hypocritical asses like yall. And for those that say we don't deserve tickets because we don't support state can go the hell away we pay more in tuition than any you ever have. It costs is about 50 bucks to buy season tickets as students, plus 3500 in in-state tuition. Season tickets in the sky deck cost what 125 at the most? We pay our dues and we make it what we can sorry we are tired of watching the same game over And over every week. We didn't go to this college to not pull f

The "don't want to watch mediocre football" excuse is a lie. It cleared out at halftime not in the third quarter when the football actually turned hard to watch. The reality is homecoming parties were apparently more important.

I agree with this guy and I'm not even a student. Put a better product on the field and people will show up. And for all those bitching about the students what about the other parts of the stadium that was about half full?

This ******** is so Genespage it`s unbelievable. It`s been going on over there for years. Obsessed, no-life alumni throwing insults and un-warranted & and un-wanted advice at students about how to act at football games. Beating their chest and saying "we`ll cut your ticket allotment or we`ll sit you on top of the stadium"...."we don`t care how crappy the program WE`VE put together for you to watch we demand you sit there and watch it til the end". It really is sickening and I just can`t fathom at all how these people think. If we put a good product on the field...the students will be there. If we don`t...they`ll leave. They have a lot more going on in their lives than the people who are bitching obviously.

And I don't disagree with much of what you said. I personally think it is a supply and demand issue.

There is a large supply of tickets for students right now and the demand is apparently low based on their actions. Reduce the number of quality seats in the lower level, sell the ones down low a couple of weeks earlier and create a situation where you promote the better seats heavily and the diehard student fans camp out for them. Sell the rest of the down low seats to the higher demand target market of young alumni. You end up with less student seats overall and a more important section.

Maybe by making the quality seating a coveted thing to have the AD can create a situation where some of the students see value in being at a game after halftime that is still in question. It has to concern you a little that we are in a close game and they pile out at halftime. This is a different sort of attitude than just not liking our team's quality of play. Something else is going on and I am saying they don't see value in the seating could be part of it. This isn't just an MSU question. A lot of AD's are trying to figure out how to get students to appreciate what is being offered.

As I said, students are free to do what they want

But it's just a shame that seats that could generate $500+ per seat sit empty game after game. I've always been an advocate that students get prime seating. It's more their university and team at this moment than anyone else. But if they're not going to utilize that benefit, it should be taken away and sold to people who would love the seats.

Stay past halftime or don't buy the damn tickets

unless it's a complete blowout. It's that easy. Your college years aren't going to be wasted away because you spend an hour less time chatting up that fat girl with a lazy eye 4 days a year.

Why would you even care? The product sucks and students have better things to do, so why get your panties in a wad over how many and where the students seats are

This isn't just a student or just an MSU issue.

Georgia reduced the size of their student section by 2,000 this year because they've had too many empty seats. There were a few thousand empty seats for the LSU-Florida game yesterday. People everywhere are starting to find something else to do on a Saturday.

It'd be nice if the people whining about the state of the student section every once in a while would throw a tiny little compliment to the FMB members. They are required to sit through every minute of every game, even if it's Maine, 3-2 Auburn, homeless Tulane, or Henig trying to beat LSU. They don't have to put band on their schedules every year but a lot of them do because they love supporting their university.

I think the BAND looks damn good in the picture.
