One more thing, Special teams played well, forcing a turnover and good punt coverage

Punt coverage has been phenomenal all year. Best I've ever seen for a whole season. It must be all Swedenburg because KO coverage is always "exciting".

As usual, good job. A few comments:

4. Agree. You play your best players. Play your 2nd string players to the extent you need to to keep everyone fresh for the whole game, but there's no reason to play 3rd string players unless the game is out of hand either way.

5. Agree. I get the impression that Mullen knows he needs to use Prescott but he doesn't really trust him yet. And I'm not sure why not. He's a beast running the ball and after starting slow the first part of the season has done a real good job throwing it. Russell is the clear starter, but Prescott needs to get about 10% of the snaps.

Perspective. I know a lot of people are down on this team right now, but the fact is we've lost to 3 top 10 teams that are just flat out better than us. There's 110 other teams in the country that would be 0-3 in that stretch of games and very few of them would have even made any of them competitive.

People just need to realize its ok to upset with losing, but realize in the big picture we are doing very well. That's why I brought up South Carolina. It took them 13 years to win 10 games in a season with Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier coaching their program. It takes time to build a program and raise the ceiling.

The biggest disappointment is this team is very inconsistent. Does that fall on the coaching staff or players? Tough to say, but we haven't played many 60 minute games this year. Last night was fairly close, hopefully we can finish the season like that.

Exactly. And South Carolina is a very good comparison. It took Spurrier 7 years to get into the SEC elite there. You just don't come into one of the non-traditional power schools and build a contender in 3-4 years in this league. The league is too good for that. It take time and you have to do it in steps. Even then, there are going to be some teams in the league that are still just better than you. Spurrier's never done better than 6-2 at South Carolina and his only championship game appearance was a blowout loss in a year they went only 5-4 in the league.

You must have missed last season then. We only gave up 100 yards in punt returns in 13 games. And I think most of those came on 1 big return. Not quite as good as this year, but it's not like we just started doing a real good job of covering punts this season. And yes, Swedenberg does get a lot of the credit for it. He's a very underrated punter.

Good article. I was talking with my sunday morning gym crowd which consists of three guys who played college ball (small college and juco) and the conversation was the typical discussion of the college and pro football landscape. Where we are concerned, one of the guys mentioned that he was impressed with how we played against lsu and thinks we have "not a bad team at all" and they all agreed with him and that we our last three games have been against top 10 teams (obviously) and that is a tough stretch.

On another note, I find it amazing that some of our fans can question where we are and where they think we should be after four years of Mullen. Have I been asleep the last four years since Mullen got here? Have we signed four top ten recruiting classes and I missed it? That is what lsu and bama has done, yet our fans act like we should be beating them. Some of these 17ers around here better learn some patience or they aren't going to make it.

I was at the game. The only problem I had was some play calling. It seems sometimes they change things up because they think you have too. Do what works and stick to it. I also don't understand Daks lack of playing time after a TD pass and a 3 yrd carry, and if you throw a kid in for 3 handoffs at the end of games with a min or so left its disrespectful and makes him seem like he's getting scrub play. It wouldn't encourage me. Also Tyler running the ball? Why he's like 27 carries for 27 yards with a fumble. A 1 yrd avg per carry. But dak get 2 plays a TD nice pass with good touch not a rope. And 3 yards without a hole. If i was Dak i would want to know wtf. Props to the players I'm very proud they stepped up without Perkins and never quit. It is very encouraging going into the last two games. Looks like 9-3 is likely.

No they really aren't. How long have they been in the SEC compared to us? They have made it in 7 years, (if you want to say they have made it) and we have been in the SEC since its inception, and we are still not there

Your right and Trust is earned I think Daks earned his, if I was Dak I don't know if I'd trust Mullens. It would piss me off to go In For a couple of handoffs with no time left 2 games in A row. If I was Prescott I'd rather play where Im Respected.

What difference does it matter if a school has been in the league for 20 years or 80? When Mullen was hired he had been at MSU for the same number of years Spurrier had been at South Carolina when he was hired. Zero. But Spurrier had been in the league a lot longer than Mullen had.

yes I did. And it looks like we are headed for 9-3. The only flaw in my prediction will be underrating Texas A&M and their talent left to Sumlin.

As I say, I'm usually going to be right or real damn close

SC has been in the SEC 20 years and they werent very good in the beginning. So they hired 2 HOF coaches to come in and build their program. And it's taken those 2 coaches 13 years combined to get them to 10 wins in a season.

I can't give you the info, but I can't understand it for you

Didn't you also say "Best defense under Mullen"?

You were just as far off as everyone that said 8-4 (assuming we don't drop another game), and you were further off than people who said 9-3. Pretty pedestrian really.

On the flip side, he should also know that the job is his when Tyler graduates. Mullen has proven he likes to gradually break in new QB's. So when it's his turn to take over, he won't be sharing much playing time. Assuming he is playing well.

being one game off is not pedestrian...and it's a helluva lot closer than the 6-6 Bogey predicted- which is the person calling me out.

And while we are at it- the OL has been much better than you predicted

How much prescription meds do you have to take at once to run prediction smack on records?

Did you forget?
