First off, I know little to nothing about these games. Not surprised by Essex result. Understand the last quarter and half was a running clock. The most surprising was Northumberland 21, Lancaster 2. Maybe Northumberland eased up? Certainly, a far cry from last year's 76-0 season opening result. Next up is Nandua 33, Rappahannock 0. Rapp won 41-6 last year and I heard they looked decent in last week's jamboree. Next is K&Q's rout of Colonial Beach. Not surprised that K&Q won but didn't think it would be 9 TDs to 0. And finally, Westmoreland beating West Point in the final minute for an 18-13 result. Thought the Eagles would be a 2-3 TD favorite.
I have to say that I agree with all that you said there!
As for the Northumberland score, yes that was a major surprise indeed. I was there & had originally planned prior to the game to head home at halftime.
Well, it was only 7-2 at the half so I remained until the end ha.
I was trying to decide if NHS was not playing as well as expected or has Lancaster improved that much. Probably a mixture of both.
I got to give credit where credit is due. Lancaster played well, had some size, hit hard and played with energy. Their QB looked very good & athletic. Great job to the coaching staff!
I am glad to see Lancaster's improvement as it is not good for anyone (certainly the kids) for a team in your district or area to become noncompetitive and/or to eventually collapse and fold.
