MY PICKS
(Last Week 6-2, 41-13 on the season)
(25)PRINCETON 4-3 1-2 @ GOLDSBORO 0-7 0-3

The Bulldogs comes into this one after a shutout win over Spring Creek 61-0, and the Cougars after yet another loss, at the hands of my Tigers πŸ… 48-6. It's HOMECOMING in Goldsboro, so I'm expecting the Cougars to put up a fight. Look for Princeton to pull away in the second half. P 54 G 18

(11)MIDWAY 6-2 3-1 @ ROSEWOOD 2-5 2-1
The Raiders put the Bulldogs fans back in a funk last Friday night with their comeback win over Wallace Rose Hill 42-35. They did it through the air, and on the ground, their rushing and passing attack was too much for the dogs to handle. Now they look to keep a hold on second place in the conference, as they hit the road to face a Eagles team who is coming off of an bye week. The Eagles two wins are over the conference's bottom feeders in Spring Creek, and Goldsboro. I don't think they have the fire power to keep up with the Raiders. M 42 R 12

SPRING CREEK 0-8 0-4 @ (18)WALLACE ROSE HILL 3-4 2-1
I wouldn't want to be a Gator going into the Dog Pound Friday night, they say a injured dog will bite, and these dogs are hurting kind of bad right now. And the Bulldogs will be looking to take their frustration out, after blowing a lead late against Midway, and possibly a conference title. I expect the Gators to let the Bulldogs know early that they don't want any problems, and will gladly get back on the bus and head home. This one will be over with by 8 o'clock. SC 0 WRH 69

GAME OF THE WEEK
C.B. AYCOCK GOLDEN FALCONS 2-5 0-4 @ (6)JAMES KENAN TIGERS πŸ… 6-1 4-0

When the schedules came out, this game was to be a game of the week type of game. For the last few seasons the Golden Falcons has been very successful on the field, especially during the regular season. Just a season ago they ran the table during the regular season, going undefeated into the playoffs. I don't have a clue to what has happened for them to have this big of a drop off so quickly. But we're here now, and this game has to be played, the Falcons comes into this one losers of their last four games. Where they have been outscored 201-21 in those four losses. I expect that they'll be upbeat about playing this one, against a nonconference opponent out of the conference where their two victories on the season has come from, (Rosewood 48-7, Goldsboro 42-0). And my Tigers πŸ… will be up for the challenge, as they'll be facing their third opponent out of the Big East 5a/6a conference. My Tigers πŸ… are 1-1 in those two road match ups, beating Southern Wayne 56-3, and their only lost to Southern Nash 44-42. Look for my Tigers πŸ… to ground the Falcons early and get back to our regular schedule program and finish up conference play, we have two sets of Bulldogs awaiting to be put down. CBA 13 JK 49

OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST
(19)CURRITUCK COUNTY 6-1 2-0 @ (16)MARTIN COUNTY 5-2 2-0

This has the make up to be a great game, both teams are on winning streaks, and both sits at the top of their conference. The Knights comes into this one winners of six straight, after losing their opener to an out of state opponent. The Gators are winners of four in a row, including a win last week in one of our featured games, a win on the road against Pasquotank County who is having a great season. Something has to give when the rubber meets the road, the Knights offense or the Gators defense! Three of the Gators last four has been shutouts, with four shutouts on the season. The Knights has scored three or more touchdowns in every game this season. This is the last game that stands between the Knights and the conference crown, since they has already played and defeated Northeastern(28-7, and Hertford County(37-14), basically the only other threats to the title. I truly believe that defense wins championships, but not on this night. I think the Knights will be too big and strong for the Gators. CC 24 MC 10

(19)AYDEN-GRIFTON 5-2 2-0 @ (22)GREENE CENTRAL 4-3 0-2
The Rams came so close last week to stopping the bleeding, but they let Kinston get away. That's now three straight losses, all at home. Well here's the Rams last home game of the regular season, and here comes the Chargers from Ayden-Grifton, winners of two in a row, and five of their last six. The Rams will need to play with the same intensity they showed last week, and find a way to finish strong. It looks like the Chargers are going on a run for another conference crown like they did last season, where they continued to prove all their doubters wrong. Well they made a believer out of me, and I believe that they'll continue to roll. AG 34 GC 14

(21)KINSTON 4-3 1-1 @ (20)FARMVILLE CENTRAL 3-4 1-1
The Vikings has been in more close games probably than anyone else in the state, and last week they found a way to win, beating Greene Central by one point. Now they hit the road again, this time against a Jaguars team that appears to have taken the season off after their win over D.H. Conley. Their only win since that game is over a lifeless Beddingfield team. This may be the best game of this week, I expect this game to be just like most of Kinston's games have been this season. A back and forth battle, with the last team with the ball will have the chance to win. The loser of this will probably get a head start on basketball tryouts next week. K 35 FC 31

(23)LAKEWOOD 5-2 3-0 @ (17)EAST BLADEN 5-3 2-2
The Leopards now has my attention, they proved me wrong a few weeks ago with their win over then undefeated North Duplin, 26-22. That's now four in a row for the Leopards, and now they'll hit the road to face a Eagles team that appears to have shaken off their two game skid to North Duplin(15-14, and Hobbton(32-28), with a win over East Columbus 44-6. The Leopards πŸ† better not over look these Eagles, cause they has a match up against the conference only other undefeated team in Hobbton, the following week. If they do, then they'll be in a back and forth battle, and I don't believe that they can beat the Eagles in a shootout. The Leopards πŸ† defense needs to bend and not break in this one, and set up a Sampson County showdown, for the conference crown, against Hobbton next week. L 27 EB 22

(8)EAST DUPLIN 5-2 2-0 @ CLINTON 3-4 1-1
An old rivalry renewed in this one, as the Panthers and the Dark Horses 🐎 finds themselves back in the East Central Conference again. You can pretty much throw out the records when these two clash. But it feels like these two aren't on the same level right now. Maybe if the Dark Horses 🐎 wouldn't have let some close games slip away this season, cause they could easily be 6-1 headed into this one. And I believe that East Duplin knows that, and they'll come out firing on all cylinders, and try to put this one away early. Do the Horses 🐎 have another Whiteville experience in them, shoot, can they come out and play like they did for three quarters against an undefeated Pender team a few weeks ago. I think Clinton may be a year away from returning back to being one of the Dark Horses 🐎 teams that we are custom to. But I do believe that if they can force the Panthers to make some mistakes then they will have a good chance at pulling off the upset. But we all know that ED isn't going to beat themselves.
