The 0Z NOAA GFS was more east and less intense. This comes back to the influence of the 500mb trough and timing.

The 12Z NOAA GFS model came in right up Mobile Bay as a cat 3. Then the core goes right over Vegas. Of course that's several days out, but not a good scenario. As the NHC keeps noting, the area of tropical storm force winds with Isaac is vary large, so don't focus on one point. If it does make Cat 2/3 intensity, with its very large wind field, there's going to be a very significant storm surge.

I'd be surprised with anything over a 2, it's wind field is so large, I don't see it winding up into a major.

That said, Ike was not a major, but has a similarly large wind field, and caused 22 foot storm surges in Galveston.

Appreciate the input Slick. Gas lines here in Gulf Breeze are getting lengthy and bottled water is flying of the shelves. We have just been filling up used two liters and putting them in the freezer.

This all figures. I moved to Fort Walton Beach a month ago.

I have no idea what to do right now. I'm fairly sure this isn't going to be the same as an afternoon thunderstorm in Clay County.

Yeah...I live a block and a half off the beach in Panama City Beach. I just went and bought a keg...for supplies.

Buy water, batteries, and food that doesn't need to be kept cold or heated up. And gas. If it gets too strong board your windows.

The stories about Jim Cantore checking in at the Hard Rock in Biloxi are just that, stories.
The famous meteorologist with The Weather Channel was still in Atlanta on Friday afternoon, keeping tabs on Tropical Storm Isaac.
A spokesman for TWC said the company hasn't decided yet where Cantore will be waiting for Isaac to make landfall.
David Blumenthal said anytime there is a tropical system, TWC gets calls that Cantore has been spotted. Because it happens so often, the company made this video spoofing viewers' reactions to Cantore.

Contore told Marshall Ramsey that Cantore is in Tampa with an option to go to Panama City Beach.

Find out if you're in a flood zone. If you're close to the beach or bay and you have the misfortune of ending up on the east side of Isaac, you're going to get water. This one may be a rainmaker.

The 00Z GFS is getting a little crazy. Has it hitting west of New Orleans and then going into Texas. Very strange.

The models are really struggling with that trough. It looks like they are saying the trough passes by, the ridge builds back in quickly, and pushes Isaac further West. Which is similar to what happened to Katrina, the ridge built in, pushed her southwest over south florida, out into the gulf, and up to Bay St. Louis.

I'm not saying that happens here, nor that Isaac will be remotely close to Katrina. Just comparing overall upper air patterns.

I just don't know if I buy that the ridge over Colorado and the one off the Atlantic Coast are going to merge enough to completely cut out that trough digging from the plains.

Looks like we`re going to be staring this SOB dead in the eye on Wednesday. I was hoping it would go to the East. Oh well it ain`t like we don`t know the routine.
