Hey everyone . Thinking of attending the game against northwestern however I’ll be coming from a bachelor party in New York so I’ll be attending solo. I’ll prob get there earlier Sunday morning.. not really familiar with the area so if there’s any good tailgates that don’t mind adding a random Rutgers fan let me know . Go RU!

We'll be there early in the Blue Lot for a breakfast tailgate to start the season. You're welcome to join us.
^^^^^^ I'll be with him unless he decides to pull another tardy entrance into the Blue Lot.
Blue lot sucks. Come to the front of the Yellow lot. Food's better, booze is top-shelf (or homemade) and the women are way hotter.
Lol!!! Rumor has it, the women become hotter in Yellow only after consuming four or more of those overpriced spirits.

Extras are always welcome with our crew. Friend or foe. We always host visitors wandering through.
Unfortunately the wife and I are in the mountains that weekend. Not involved with the plans by our gang.
Sounds like you won't be lacking invites though.

As much as folks bicker on here, there is always a welcome sign @ most set ups.

Yea, hit up 4real for breakfast LoBro, frost-chilled PBR and stick around for his fraternity hula hoop contest at 11:00.

No frat bros allowed.

Breakfast is typically something like homemade sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs cooked to order on one of the flat top grills, bacon, pancakes... @LeapinLou almost always turns out some 1st up PRECs. Once in a while I'll swap out the sausage gravy and do steak & eggs. Hash browns aren't uncommon. I'm sure I'm missing something.

And @Knight Shift makes a valid point - the booze is actually free.

We do need more women, though. I'll be the first to admit that. For our crew, tailgate is definitely a "boys night out" sort of situation. The wives, for the most part, don't participate. Now, I know @DJ Spanky brings his wife on occasion, but then I've also heard rumors that he's completely deaf to high frequencies. 🤣

And your point..? 😉
Ummm...what time should I visit?
That happens in every Lot and in life too.
Good point.

I knew it...sausage fest galore. Will go perfect with the breakfast tailgate. I tailgated with Spanky all last year. I didn't even know he was married!

One day I would love to walk about and put some faces to names at tailgates.
Some things are best left to the imagination 🤣

I'm just kidding by the way, I don't actually know any of these people either.

Years ago (MANY years ago), I believe it was suggested name tags for the tailgate(s). I think it happened once or twice in Yellow maybe? Someone with a better memory can confirm or deny.

I do recall being the guy who pushed the nametags idea at the pre-game party for the International Bowl in Toronto.

Some liked it, some did not.🤷‍♂️

That was, I think, back in the days of the "Official RutgersFan.com Tailgates". I seem to recall stopping by one and some people were wearing nametags.

Well, Keith was wearing a nametag. Maybe Lou was, too.

Tell ya what - if the message board software didn't suck we would be able to run a live map on game day and whoever wanted to could pin their tailgate location to the map. But that sort of years-old technology is probably years away.

It's almost embarrassing how many people I know from this board & consider them friends. Everyone, in real life, is really nice.
I think me and @RUScrew85 were both surprised with each other in person and we were not at all like we are on the board (sometimes).

I don't want to jinx it but we have been blessed with great tailgating weather the past few seasons. This year 6 out of seven dates are November 4 or earlier, with four in September. So a good chance for another banner year.

I'd rather have the Labor Day weekend game be on the road. It would be nice to have a 2nd date in October instead.
I was one of the first to suggest we volunteer for that slot…when it was going to be a Friday night. If not then on the road like you said.
At least the first 3 tailgates are all at different times. Remember they year where we had 5 or 6 of the games be noon starts?
I meant the dates…no more than 2 home games a month. Spread it out.

A friend of mine pointed out that Rutgers should never ever ever play a home game Labor Day weekend. We are a shore state and therefore we go to the shore that weekend. If Rutgers must play that weekend, It should be someplace like northwestern or Nebraska or Iowa where they don't have any beaches or shores.

#MeToo

I was only a big proponent of the Friday night LDW game when there was the “rule” of everyone having to play one.

But since that seems to have gone by the wayside, I’m fine with a roadie to open the season too now.
