Question for anyone knowledgeable on this topic - I'm a cable customer and don't do satellites or antennas. Are HD Antennas effective in Starkville, particularly on campus? My group isn't interested having hundreds of channels, just enough to supply the major network football games during the day. I understand this would keep us from watching ESPN, but ABC and CBS games would be enough to keep us moderately entertained, presumably without the hassle of setting up a dish.

Has anyone had any luck with these? Any recommendations on a fairly priced model? Or, is this a dumb idea (i.e. DirectTV or Dish is the only way to go)?

That'll get you the 11:00 and 2:30 games. Worked perfect for the Bama game last year - SEC football on the tube all day.

But to pick up ABC or NBC, I think you need a more expensive, powered antenna. From what I remember, any antenna can pick up an HD signal, so bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, just stronger. Like I said, el cheapo will get you SEC games all day.

I was worried that HD signals weren't easily picked up on campus for whatever reason.

WKDH #45 ABC, WTVA #9 NBC, WLOV #27 FOX, ...towers are all located in South Chickasaw Co., South of Houston
WCBI #4 CBS tower is located in North Clay County.
So if you have a 30 ft. tall antenna, without obstruction...you'll be ok.
