I love how you corrected his spelling...

...While using "increase" instead of "increased" in the same post. Brilliant

You're fighting a losing battle here

Excuse me, 2 hours then cock sucker.
Sorry you did not pay that unless you are currently a freshman. In my years here, tuition has increase every year but 1 and I dont know when you were in school but im sure if you went to MSU tuition was not that high
Well if you have your own FINANCIAL obligations I would suggest you not "shell out" 4500 on tickets.

I've been in the stadium most of the games 1 hour+. The student section in any of their various locations were not at 50% capacity. So, "most students" would not be accurate.

Are you paying the tuition or mommy and daddy?

If you're short on cash or time, I would suggest not shelling out tuition and let another student with some 17n school pride take your place in the Bulldog universe.

Oh, by the way, I graduated during the Sherrill years. Starting salary is now considered under the poverty line. I guess they don't teach kids about inflation these days.

Can I just be the first to say...

That I would pay whatever tuition is now ($6,672 apparently), $4500 for a ticket, wait in line for however long you ask me to (72 hours? sure.), give up my fall break to have "hot meals and see old friends", and whatever the hell else you asked me to do if I could go back to being a college student watching a "******" product (which by the way, relative to MSU, this isn't "******" at all) on the field. I'm sure I speak for the majority on this board when I say that.

6,672 in tuition, not gone bring up books, parking decal, housing, etc...the continuous bitchin' on here is becoming absolutely pointless and is making this board intolerable. Most students go in at least 3 hours before kick off so sitting at a game 6+ hours and seeing the team take a **** on the field week in and week out would make anyone want to leave early if it isn't competitive. If it bother those who haven't been in school since the Regan administration so bad that those who can leave during a crappy game do, then like I've posted before get your *** off her and over to emailing the Athletic Department to do something about it.

That's not very much nowadays. Vanderbilt is over $50K as I recall. And I paid more than $6672 for a year of my kid's high school tuition almost 20 years agoi.

Great post.

Life Tip 1: Don't be an idiot.

If you have to fly home or live more than 6 hours away, by all means go home for all of fall break, but otherwise, you should not be rushing home on the Wednesday of fall break when there is a football game on Thursday. Ignoring how crappy the football is or is not, some awesome things happen on night like that and you should try to make as many of them happen as possible. There will be plenty of time for hot meals later.

Life Tip 2: Don't worry about what other people think.
If you don't want to hang out for more than a half of football, don't do it. But you should be able to understand that the reason you give students access to good seating at dirt cheap prices is to build up the atmosphere and create loyal fans among the student body before they go out and become alumni. If we have large portions of the students leaving at halftime, we're failing at both and there's no reason for the school not to maximize revenue instead.

A war bwtween the alumni and students won't do any good for MSU

and could potentially hurt us in recruiting. At most every away game I've attended (and there were times when we were someone else's Bowling Green or Troy) the student section was very engaged. If they win, our players still tend to rush towards the student section to celebrate before hitting the lockers. Let's face it--they go to class with them, see them out in the bars, and become friends.

Alienating or diminishing the student section, in my opinion, is an absolutely horrible 17n idea. It's not like with the stadium expansion there won't be enough seats. Give the students ****** ones, and even more will drop out. Ticket money is a drop in the bucket next to TV money and the cameras want students, in case you didn't notice.

Give them cheap tickets; change the stadium music or what's on the Jumbotron--but get them engaged. It's important to the players and the recruits to see students (particularly women) when they visit--not a bunch of old guys. My opinion but we continue to 17 up recruiting and there won't be anybody in the stadium at the beginning of the game much less halftime.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the basketball atmosphere collapse coincided with the students being moved.

Well there you have it folks. The "it is owed to me" generation rears its ugly head in plain sight.

You pay tuition and expect that this gives you the right to just about anything. News flash: your tuition is your right to work hard for a college degree. You are owed nothing but an environment to succeed in that endeavor. All of the extras you get as a student are the beauty of college.

For 17s sake, Fall Break is a new concept. The idea that you have to rush home for a hot meal after only being in Starkville since mid August is laughable.

Amen. Starkville was more fun during the breaks and summers when these goobers went home every weekend to get hot soup from mama.

And how much good do the prima donna self absorbed students that bail out early every week do us? As for hurting recruiting, you think recruits don't see the students bailing on their visits? That's going to be seen by more recruits than this message board. And by the way sonof34, I've been paying tuition, books, rent, etc there for my kid for the last 3 years and got another one headed that way in 2 years and write my checks for Bulldog Club and tickets. I'll ***** at you and the likes of msuforlife freely w/ no regrets anytime I feel the urge

In case you didnt know Vanderbilt is a private institution and to pay that much for you to send your kids away from the African Americans is just ridiculous.

Ill echo these thoughts, too. Enjoy your apt while you are paying for it and party all night every night. You won't get to do that when you start working and having to be a grown up...

Summertime in Starkville was my favorite time of year.

I agree that seeing empty student sections hurts with recruiting--so give them something to stay for. And I don't necessarily mean on the field- do something with the music, Jumbotron. Do something like the bears to with the pre-game "celebrity" Hotty Toddy. Engage them. We need them in the stands more than they need us if the goal is to have a great gameday experience. If we don't turn recruiting around, The Junction will be the only place that anyone "wins."

The really sad thing is that I'll have to employ somebody like you in a couple of years because you're probably the tallest midget graduating these days.

Preach it Corso!! I sat through every game of that miserable season(Tech and 10)

and every Felker game after that. The reason Jackie reached King status with so many alumni is that he came after the horrendous years of Felker. These punks today think they have seen bad football....They wouldn't even go get their student tickets if they endured one game of that miserable period of MSU football. That was the pinnacle of bad teams....yes, even worse than the Croom era.

Damn, I got old.

I saw some damn good football and some damn bad football in my days at State. My philosophy was if we're beating the **** out of a non-SEC team, I leave with 5 minutes left in the 4th. If we're getting the **** beat out of us by any team, I leave with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Never leave a close game or an SEC game that we're winning early. Savor that **** while you can because you never know when 0-8 may come around.

I cannot fathom how you guys left the Bowling Green game early. Teams like Bowling Green come in throwing haymakers because it would be a huge win for them to knock off any SEC team. Staying there and being loud in the 4th quarter is how you support your team.

It is not just the students though. Fans in my section sit on their 17ing hands and seem annoyed if the group I'm with stands up to yell on an opponent's 3rd down. I just don't get it. If you don't want to stay through the games, you're a waste of a ticket. If you don't want to cheer the team on, watch the game on tv in silence at home.
