I don’t know. Tarboro is just so one dimensional. That works at the 1a level because they can just out quick, out talent, and over power most teams. At the 2a and 2aa level, where the talent is much better overall, you need to be able to put the ball in the air on occasion. I’m not sure how well Tarboro can do that. But who really knows?
You do realize Tarboro won 3 2A titles and 1 3A title running the exact same offense right?

Don’t know what they did from 08-2012. But last year they were one dimensional. Are they throwing the ball quite a bit more this year? Honest question. If they are then I will take back what I said about them being one dimensional
They run the same offense now as they did then. Tarboro has ran the same offense since 60’s and that’s not a exaggeration.

I will say that I’ve never said they could win a 4A title I was merely saying that they could compete against some of the 4A schools not saying they would win just saying that would make a game out of it

I realize y’all did. That’s why I said one of the only, not the only. Go back and look. When we did it during that time , I believe we were the third team to do it along with y’all , and independence. I think a few more may be on the list now.

I got you. Nothing but respect for your program, i know your vikes are no flash in the pan. I was just plugging our little ole program and our school of about 350 kids ( I have no shame). I’m amazed at the talent level you guys put out every year. I know a lot is coaches and off season work but I’m still amazed. How many NFL players have you guys produced?

So I’m a Murphy alum. Love everything about it and miss it every day. Being out east has allowed me to go catch different games for different teams the last two years. I drove 3 hours last week to watch Tarboro play because I’ve wanted to see just how strong they are and I’ll say with confidence no one in 1A/AA is within two td’s of them, and I would place my money on them to win the 2A as well. I understand Murphy, Mount Airy, or whoever else wouldn’t beat Tarboro, but don’t discredit those teams as scrubs and that they’ll lay down and have a running clock against the vikes.

Was it Sylva-Webster that you beat?
It was. We hung a sign up during baseball season that said welcome to Robbinsville home of 1a & 2a state football champs. Babe Howell was also the baseball and showed no mercy that day , they beat Robbinsville that day 39-3 in baseball. Needless to say coach Colvin didn’t appreciate the sign and handed out more punishment on top of the baseball beating.

Yes they did with NFL player gurley, you dont have a player like that.
State Championship appearances: 5 in a row. (08,09,10,11,12)
Number of years Gurley played Varsity: 2 (10,11).

5-2=3

Based on that, that’s 3 years Tarboro made it to the state championship without Gurley in 2A. - but I understand though, math is hard.

Thomasville played and beat larger schools all the time when they were a 1A power. They didn't go downhill because of 2A. They went down because a legend retired. Tarboro could compete with and beat many larger programs.

With that said, any team is beatable on any day. Tarboro may win the state title by 50 points. More likely they win by 2 or 3 YRs or even lose.

Much respect to Murphy, Robbinsville and Tarboro. Now I'm going to leave this penis measuring contest. Heck of a thread, my popcorn was good lol.

Kelvin Bryant (80's)

Donald Frank (80's)

Todd Gurley (Current - LA Rams)

Takoby Cofield (Former, I think he plays in Canadian League now)

Tyquan Lewis (Current - Indianapolis Colts)

Shaun Draughn (Retired RB)

Maybe more, but I think that's it......

Todd Gurley has lot of respect in Edenton. He played like a man and acted like a gentleman. Don’t see that much out of players with that kind of ability.

Like a man, indeed. TG willed the Vikings to victory on high ankle sprains throughout the playoffs, and the Edenton game especially.

Beat Northside-Jax by 2, Holmes by 2, South Columbus by 3 and Lincolnton by 3 in the Final. That was an amazing follow-up to the undefeated season in 2010.

If he is that is crazy.
Well, the Vikings will get their biggest test next week against SWE. In terms of playoff position, this game means nothing. In terms of local bragging rights and a true test of will, this game means everything. Winner gets a huge momentum boost going into the playoffs.

Simmons shows Tarboro as a 14 point favorite right now. This will be an excellent test for Tarboro's Defense. That team across the county has a higher ranking this year than last year. They are ranked 8th in 2A - ahead of Clinton, SWO and WRH. Expect a lower scoring game since they like to run the ball - grinding out 4 yards per carry and eating up the clock.

The Cougers Keishon Porter is a nice weapon at WR, though he seems to be the only receiving option. They seem content to split him as far wide as possible and play 10 on 10 running game. In terms of scheme, it's almost like watching a first-team scrimmage. Concepts are the same on both sides of the ball. It's becomes a game of one-on-one battles which usually favors the team with the most talent.

I felt like Tarboro was better than a 20-0 score last year would indicate, but there were several times the Vikings lack of discipline killed their momentum, especially in the second half. That said, this SWE team looks better than last year.

Can I also say that there is always a big difference between playing in Tarboro as opposed SWE. SWE has every cliché in-game gimmick you can imagine at home. The cannon, the entrance smoke, the announcer-led first down chanting, etc. In Tarboro, the players run through the banner and that's pretty much it. To use a music analogy, Tarboro doesn't need a dance routine. They know how to play their instruments!
