Great Show! I respect coach for taking up for his boys, that is what he is supposed to do. With that said, This Tarboro team is better than the 2019 Tarboro team, and this Kinston team isn't close to that East Surry team, I am sorry. In theory it sounds good, but it's easier said than done. Kinston can win this game, no doubt about it, but I am still sticking with the Vikings of Tarboro.

I don't mind him taking up for his guys. He's supposed to after all. But with all due respect, this Kinston team is NOT 2019 East Surry. This Tarboro team is better than that one and I'm also pretty confident that the offensive line east had that year is better than what Kinston will have.

Yea I totally get what you guys are saying. I think coach Thorpe is trying to find a similar style team that has success against Tarboro and let’s be honest there isn’t too many teams to pick from lol East Surry was just the best option to choose from

I think that 2019 East Surry team is probably the best team in NC 1A history on the offensive side of the ball. Best team I've ever seen.

It would be one thing if Kinston was undefeated or has 1 loss to a powerhouse, but two of their 3 losses have come against sub .500 teams. And the other loss was against a team that Tarboro creamed. I'm not sure why Kinston is saying anything about them being able to win this game.

Ok, the rest of the show was good. I’m still scratching my head on the Tarboro @ Kinston portion. You spent about half that segment pleading for calm because you aren’t picking the home team. Your partner however goes the homer route and tries to frame Kinston into the same mold as 2019 East Surry.

I have seen Kinston play this season and I saw Tarboro play East Surry. Kinston tries to play a balanced offense and normally any pass attempts by Kinston are the 10+ yard variety to the main targets. East Surry was throwing 5-7yd slant and dig routes consistently against Tarboro’s zone and tried a few honest run plays once they already had 28 points on the board. Boaz had no problem throwing to whoever was open and there were often 5 receivers.

The blueprint for defeating Tarboro is doing the fundamentals better. See Mount Airy. See Wallace-Rose Hill. Playing disciplined football on both sides will give a talented team a chance to compete. Kinston has talent but they often need that talent to overcome the fundamental mistakes they make. Literally the first rule of a great football team is don’t beat yourself.

Kinston isn’t going to recreate East Surry. The one chance they have is to not make bad situations worse and give yourself another play. If they can create some turnovers, it’s anyone’s game. I think what you have observed in seeing both teams play this year is Kinston will go all in at times with a bad hand and Tarboro always has the nuts.

Good points. It was funny to me the guy started off saying Kinston is a superior program and then proceeded to say they were gonna mimic East Surry.

My opinion is that superior programs don’t try to mimic anybody. He should’ve said the key to beat Tarboro is to play “Kinston football”…instead he basically said they were gonna play “East Surry football”

Unless I am mistaken, the co-host is actually an assistant at Kinston or involved with the program in some way.

Show is well put together but is definitely slanted toward the area they cover when it comes to predictions. Lots of people would love to get some action on a 14 point spread in the ED/SL game I bet.

A lot more going on than appears, I just rather not put everything on the table. Just know there a certain group I was talking to…

Good points. I do always find it funny how whenever Tarboro plays a passing team almost everybody harps back to 2019 East Surry. Tarboro has played many passing teams since and I can count on one hand how many have come close to replicating what East did that night.

The other thing that gets under looked about that game was the offensive line for East Surry.
They did a great job protecting Boaz all night. Compare that to 2018 where Tarboro was pressuring him the whole game nearly. Anyway that game was six years ago for today's game, I do expect Kinston to take some deep shots downfield to test the Vikings defense. But I believe Tarboros pass rush will come into play in this one.
