SWE was actually the favorite in that game, just because it was at home. Both teams were even. Reidsville went up 14-0 in the first. SWE clawed back to tie it with under a minute left in the half. Reidsville made it 22-20 in the 3rd. We scored in the 4th, but was denied the 2pt try. Drove down the field in the 4th, to the 20 with 10 seconds or so left. Attempted our first field goal of the year. Muffed snap, holder took off to the right pylon, but was stopped at the 4. Reidsville ran a dive to end the clock.
That was the game where Reidsville fans started the rumor that we soaked the field to slow them down. Nevermind the fact that it was November, had rained heavily, we are in swampland with poor drainage, and the field was heavily used. Nope. We tried to cheat

For the life of me I've never understood why they would start that rumor because if y'all did do that more than likely a ton of players would have gotten injured on both sides. If southwest wins Friday would you say it would be the biggest upset in this rivalry?
I would be shocked if swe won this week, but with our numbers being so low, and young at many positions, Idk if I’d be ready to call it the biggest upset of the rivalry
I think it would be judging by the way that they have played in two of their three games this season.
maybe, could be a testament to their schedule though. Northern is 2-0 with zero scores, and a 40 pt win over topsoil, and hunt beat beddingfield the week before (on the field, I know they had to forfeit that game) 49-0
with all that said, I’m not trying to hype up swe. I don’t think they are great, but I don’t think they are as bad as some May say. I don’t want our fans to get discouraged with say a two score win.
I think as of right now, after hearing stories from the 80’s- the biggest upset in the rivalry is the game that really started the rivalry in 1983. Southwests clock operator stopped the clock to give SWE time to run their FG unit on the field to kick a field goal to beat Tarboro as time expired.
I've heard about that game. I've heard people say that team was as good if not better than 84. That honestly probably is the number 1 upset in this rivalry. I don't know what the biggest upset win for Tarboro would be in this rivalry? Maybe in the playoffs in 84 when Tarboro beat swe. Remember 84 lost to swe week 1 that season
True. Northern looks good this season best I've seen them look In years, along with Hunt. Hate Tarboro couldn't play Northern this year

As a whole the rivalry has been really one sided. I think Tarboro leads the series like 34-13 or something like that
If it ends up being a two score win for Tarboro, then y'all are worse than I thought. Listen we cannot move the ball. We cannot stop the movement of the ball. We are good for for about 20 yards a drive. And once we get frustrated, we start playing without discipline. Seem to lose the will to fight.
A lot of people forget that Southwest beat us five consecutive seasons from 05 to 09. The rivalry was really lopsided in the '90s I believe because didn't Southwest go through a bit of a rough period during that stretch? And also yeah we've beaten Southwest a lot but you got to take into account a lot of those games have been somewhat close .
Late 90s, early 00s, they were bad. 01 and 02 that were REALLY bad.
Yeah I've heard the bottom fell out for swe around that time. Got to give Raymond Cobb a ton of credit for turning around that program the way he did.

Tarboro didn’t show up in the 2nd half. 41-13 final
Tarboro was amazing in the first half. Whatever swe did at halftime worked because Tarboro came up flat. Also extremely disappointed in Edgecombe county sheriff's department there was a big fight outside of the stadium after the game ended and there was not a single cop inside rushing to stop it unacceptable.
Tarboro played a near perfect first half and answered everything SWE thru at them. The second half was the worst half i've seen them play in years. Fumbled snaps, running backwards, no blocking, confusion on lining up, and terrible arm tackling. I don't think it was what SWE was doing . It looked like we lost interest in the game and was ready to pack up and leave. I know the team is young and still learning but the coaches have some work to do this week on poise and how to finish a game.
I agree Tarboro just got to comfortable. I will say I don't believe That number 15 from Tarboro fumbled he was definitely down.
Yep. I know we’re nitpicking here but it was very disappointing to see the way we came out in the second half..we had a chance to put a running clock on on our rival and we just completely checked out in the 2nd half.

Me too. Me and you have talked about it before…we never will do it to Southwest. We always get a lead and then go into stall mode
I loved the way Tarboro played in the first half. Second half we didn't play good at all. I'm happy we won I'm just concerned about how we looked in the second half. However this should be Tarboros final test this season since their conference schedule begins this upcoming week
What is the vibe around yalls way? Do you feel there will be a change made after the season?

Our athletic director, who has also been the women's basketball coach throughout the lifetime of the school's existence, tends to keep coaching of all sports in the school family and community, instead of reaching out and bringing in coaches based on coaching resume. For example: our current football coach. How else do you explain hiring a first year head coach at a school that averaged double digit wins over the previous 16 years? It certainly wasn't due to his head coaching experience. Could it be because no one from the outside wants to move to this area, or accept the pennies that ECPS offers? Possibly. All I know is the last outsider to coach football at SWE was Bill Hawkins, who went 4-7, 8-4, and 5-6, before somehow ending up on Tarboro's staff. Go figure. Following him, we suffered through a 0-11, 2-9, and 0-11 head coach before making a change, which tells me she is willing to give people time. No one in the fan base that I run across is happy with the product on the field, and the crowd numbers are reflecting that. But I don't think there will be a change any time soon. Gonna give the young buck time.
With time i think he will succeed because SWE has good talent year after year. I know Tarboro manhandled them Friday night but i came away impressed with the fact they did not fold and actually won the second half. Tarboro helped that by shooting themselves in the foot time after time. If SWE coaches are smart they will tell their team that they won the second half of the game by out scoring and shutting down the Vikings.
I mean in the second half you guys dominated and any smart team that plays Tarboro especially in the state championship game would watch film of that. Your QB has tremendous speed ,he looked like Lamar on that long 4th down conversion
