Guess my question was misunderstood? The thread reads like the taxslayer Noelia a done deal when it turns out it was merely a guess by someone that we will play GT? People were posting as if it was a done deal too, how was this guess different from the others regarding credibility.
This waiting for a confirmation on bowl is getting on every UK football fans nerves. So we just speculate here with some Lair type comments.

Cats^^ Larry Vaught tweeted it out that he had heard it was going to be the Taxslayer Bowl. He gave props to MB in the tweet.
It's not just Larry Vaught's tweet.. Tennessee thinks it's going to the Music City now. Arkansas was the other option for Taxslayer, but their athletic department didn't offer preorder ticket sales as early as our's did (they are now though). Kentucky leads the pack for Taxslayer right now on ticket sales and that's why we have so much chatter.
This would be our biggest bowl since the Outback, right?

I hope the "Powers in Charge," make a decision in the next couple of days.

I'm of the understanding that there is a meeting scheduled tomorrow and that the details would leak out from there. I don't know who Larry Vaught's source is, but I have noticed a coincidental push from the marketing department in the last few hours...
1. Guy Ramsey on the Call in show tonight. He pushed preorders hard.
2. UK ticket office sent me an email tonight encouraging me to preorder again.
3. UK ticket office also opened pre-sales to non-season ticket holders today.
4. KSR pushing the preorder sales and the "Taxslayer" story.
5. The buzz around a UK-Indiana game in Nashville died quickly this afternoon.
6. Taxslayer's twitter account posting and then removing UK related posts..
7. Tennessee outlets pushing them to MCB.
I have been praying for a Gator Bowl for over 50 years. It may not be the Gator Bowl anymore but it is still Rock & Roll to me.
It's getting through Atlanta that's a problem.
Agree 1000%. One of the worst traffic nightmares in the U.S of A. There is no easy way to get through that place. I tried it at 3:00 AM and still waited in traffic on I-75. Wish that place would go away or I had a private plane to fly over it. And God forbid if an ice storm hits it.
I don't think they will say anything official until they know the two teams in each bowl.
But if you live there (a very large UK fanbase there) you've got a jump on it. Or you know the back roads to I-75 South.
MapQuest says go I-26 through Columbia and catch I-95 all the way from there, no reason to go through Atlanta if you live in Central Ky

Regarding Atlanta traffic here's my advise:
Since the game is on Saturday most will go down on a weekday. Try to plan your route so that you will be hitting the city between 10:00 - 2:00. You should be OK if you do that, anything outside of that, pack your lunch and use the restrooms 20 miles out. Also if you have GPS with traffic info, or an ap on your phone, seek the least congested option. You have 3 choices east bypass, west bypass and straight through. If you return on Sunday you shouldn't have any problem.
I do not recommend trying to navigate the backroads to avoid traffic. There's three problems. The backroads take you though a lot of small towns and traffic lights, the distance is longer, and in heavy traffic situations, the backroads actually get jammed up just as bad as I75. I have attempted this in the past and have wasted an extra hour or two.

I might leave Thursday around 3 or 4 and drive to the other side of Atlanta. Friday morning drive the rest of the way to Jacksonville and have the rest of Friday to party.
From Lexington you could cut down thru Columbia, SC and take I-95. Avoid Atlanta completely. Trip Advisor is showing this to be jsut as fast as routing thru Atlanta.
For those of you who may think Jacksonville is not a fun place to visit I would tell you different. This is a college football city not so pros. There are things for all ages. See below

^This. If you coming from Lexington, I-75 to Knoxville, I-40 to I-26 though the Mountains then I-95 in.
26 through South Carolina is also hell. Two lanes the entire way and traffic will be miserable because of the holidays.

I always liked Jax. For others who might like a little different feel who are coming from the North, they could stay around St. Simons which is not terribly far from Jacksonville (easy drive down and back on gameday). Quieter, homey, with some good restaurants here and there.
On Leach's show last night he said to email or text the athletic office with the bowl you favor and if numbers are impressive that will go over big with the bowl rep. Bomb the office with Gator Bowl requests. I cannot call it Taxslayer Bowl. Sorry.
