South Carolina offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley let go by Shane Beamer
South Carolina offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley has been relieved of his duties by head coach Shane Beamer, GamecockCentral has learned.www.on3.com
To compound it, didn’t I read on here where Teasley got a raise after last year?!?!?!?I'm sorry....I really hate to be that guy but....too little too late. The time for that move was after last season.
We told him so. He didn't listen. The ship is sinking and there's nothing to stop it from going to the bottom now. Again, Beamer had his chance to correct things in the offseason and he refused to do it. It is what it is. Another golden opportunity with all the hype and preseason rankings flushed down the toilet. - Will take us another decade to get back to that level.
Good start.
I believe that is correct, although I am too lazy to verify that as I just don't care. But, IMHO, that is more along the lines of "the gamecock way" around here and it's a university leadership issue vs a single coach issue...To compound it, didn’t I read on here where Teasley got a raise after last year?!?!?!?
Disagree, while I think it should‘ve been done last year (in all honesty, should’ve never been hired) but, if Elliot can get this thing going, and we rattle off some wins, Oklahoma and ole Miss are beatable. Bama is looking better, but mizzou took them to the wire and we had our chances with them. Every game remains winnable with the right combo of line,en, some discipline instilled in them AND some nasty attitudes that Shawn will enable.I'm sorry....I really hate to be that guy but....too little too late. The time for that move was after last season.

Agree, very un-Beamer like. He’s only let go of Hardesty. I am also not sure what constitutes Beamer’s evaluations given he’s never fired anyone of consequence until now. Needed changes at OC and some other clowns hired them away. I don’t think we’ll get the full story of how this happened. That's un-Beamer-like, based on his history here as Head Coach. He has always waited until the end of the season to do an evaluation and make a decision. I can't prove it but, I suspect Donati had a hand in this and forced the firing.
I hope you’re wrong but I absolutely get this perspective.I'm sorry....I really hate to be that guy but....too little too late. The time for that move was after last season.

I think you're correct. Beamer is his own worst enemy. Stubborn and listens too much to players wishes. That's why the stupid weekly fashion show exists.I'm sorry....I really hate to be that guy but....too little too late. The time for that move was after last season.

We wouldn't want to let a coach go without sweetening his buyout first. As the British would say, that wouldn't be "cricket".To compound it, didn’t I read on here where Teasley got a raise after last year?!?!?!?
Not so much a matter of where someone has coached before, good coaches can figure it out anywhere. I didn’t know this until someone on this board stated it a few weeks ago but Teasely was a Satterfield recommendation. That is about all we needed to know.So Teasley, prior to coming here was the Offensive Line Coach for 2 seasons at North Carolina Central University. What was Beamer thinking entrusting one of the most important, maybe most important coaching position to someone who had previously been the OL Coach at North Carolina Central University? He had confidence to go into the SEC wars with him? Unbelievable.
It was me who wrote that. I was astonished when I read that. I don't strongly disagree with your first sentence. It's just that we do have disadvantages at USC (hard to recruit in a relatively small state with Clemson being our rival; and also having UGA, Vols and Gators nearby).. It just seems to me it's taking an unnecessary chance for us. But I admit I could be overreacting. Not so much a matter of where someone has coached before, good coaches can figure it out anywhere. Me too. Also stunned about James Franklin.Frankly, I’m stunned….. but happy that some effort is being made.
I was too. Think they’ll regret thisMe too. Also stunned about James Franklin.
Maybe so. Glad he is keeping any intervention under the radar. That's un-Beamer-like, based on his history here as Head Coach. He has always waited until the end of the season to do an evaluation and make a decision. I can't prove it but, I suspect Donati had a hand in this and forced the firing.
This move probably gets Beamer 2 more years. (depending on how we finish this year)I'm sorry....I really hate to be that guy but....too little too late. The time for that move was after last season.

Very surprised he actually did it...midseason, no less...but it's a dollar short and a day late, I'm afraid. The season is already lost.Frankly, I’m stunned….. but happy that some effort is being made.
One more season for sure. If we only win 1 more game this year (likely) - and next year is a disaster too, the new AD will move on with his own hire, IMHO. I'm saying next year will be Shane's final year here. He won't get 2 seasons, IMHO. As someone else said, the new AD probably had a hand in this move today. (IE: forced Beamers hand now) We'll likely never know that for sure but what we do know is Beamer is not one to go around firing people mid-season.This move probably gets Beamer 2 more years. (depending on how we finish this year)
He will get more money in one check than I earned my first 30 years of working full time. (Granted, I am old as dirt.)We wouldn't want to let a coach go without sweetening his buyout first. As the British would say, that wouldn't be "cricket".
Beamer is not used to having a boss.If my suspicion is correct that Donati had a hand in Teasley's dismissal, that gives me more confidence about the future of the football program. That could be the kick in Beamer's rear end to get his act together, or else.
They've got their eyes on someone.I was too. Think they’ll regret this
This would be the right thing to do - if Beamer can make it happen. This seems little more than a move by Beamer to save his own hide. ALL the signs were there to can Teasley in the offseason. Instead, we gave him a raise.
If we're serious, we'd bring on PIttman in some capacity for the rest of the season as hail Mary of sorts.
