The fact of the matter is, despite a 6-2 start, there’s still very little juice around this program that will get casual fans to attend this one. We shouldn’t need former players imploring our fans to show up..the fact they are says a lot.
Can't believe Nova and Vedral were spotted driving this on the beach this past weekend trying to drum up ticket sales.

It because we've won the games we were supposed to. Once we start winning the games we're dogs in the hype will build.

This home game attendance will look like any other college home game attendance coming off 8 straight losing season and not even looking like they had a pulse. Yet somehow Rutgers fans are supposed to be different otherwise they suck.

Maybe, just maybe Nebraska could do it, but they haven't had 8 straight losing seasons since the 40's. But even in their down years they were never considered the *** crack of College Football and have National Championships to fall back on.

Lol. Just trying to be a realist and not a downer.

I don’t expect a packed house (though I did a week ago)…my extra ticket was still tough to get rid of and I don’t sense much excitement around.

It’s definitely cause we haven’t had that “big win” yet. Could Saturday finally be it?

It’s because we sucked for almost a decade
We are on the right track, enjoy the moment
Keep Chopping it will all work out!
I will be watching from the west coast. I can tell you more people are talking about the Rutgers Ohio State game out here than you might imagine, I have a few OSU acquaintances, they are not taking this game lightly . They all love Schiano and have great respect for his time there.

No you are a downer all the time speaking about Rutgers Football. Just admit it and accept it. (Unlike @RUBOB72 who still hasn't admitted his blunders in the Matthew Perry thread)

How do you figure that? RU was projected to win 4 games this year by the books, yet now we were SUPPOSE to win 6 out of the first 8!
I'm saying in terms of the spread/betting odds. I believe we won all the games we were favored and lost the games we weren't. We haven't had a big upset.

I can see the complaint threads starting:
1. Students arrived too late
2. Students left too early
3. "We" have such a weak fanbase
4. Tailgaters who did not come inside should be ashamed
5. Game presentation is to blame for poor attendance
6. People did not want to come watch a bloodbath
7. Complaints about horse video, train horn, etc.

8- season ticket holders sold tickets
9-if the game was at 3;30 or 7:30 attendence would have been higher

Re: Teel’s note. Not his place, or anyone’s place, to judge how others spend their money. Nobody should care if he ends up disappointed.

Empty seats demonstrate a Rutgers football problem, not a community problem.

Whoever doesn’t attend is choosing to do something they prefer instead.

I am sure you will be at the Dome Friday night to see your Orange battle BC, doubtful you attend any RU games unless they are playing Sadexcuse!!!

These threads always amuse me. Kind of like the old "you are what your record says you are" trope, your fan base is what your fan base is. It's not the RU fans who are the problem. We go to the games, we participate in message boards like this, we live and die with the team and yes, we fret about the attendance. As others have noted above, there isn't any buzz around the team yet, you can't really manufacture buzz - it just happens. We saw what happens with a little buzz back in 2006. It was amazing the new fans that were attracted to the program in a very short period of time. It can happen again. It can even happen this year, pull off an upset against OSU or Penn State and the buzz will be off the charts! Even a win over Iowa will boost things appreciably for Maryland. Hopefully there will be a great crowd on Saturday, but win consistently and the buzz will build gradually. This year is a first step, if the team keeps building on it, the fan base will grow too. In the meantime, Go RU - crush the Buckeyes!!

Same fabricated tale repeated so often it’s got a life of its own. Only been to 1 game there to see RU play.

Another “Sadexcuse” parrot. So funny. Are you 10 years old yet?

Every year is its own dude. That dont mean a thing.

That’s BS. Yes it does mean everything.
We have a depleted fan base from 8 years of non-competitive football. We didn’t win a conference home game for something like 4+ years in a row.

There used to be 14 excited people in my season ticket holder group. Now it’s 4 of us and most games there hadn’t been enough excitement to get all 4 there.

We haven’t beat any program this season that opens the eyes and gets the attention of all those lost casual fans.

Beat Ohio St or Penn St this year and then we’ll notice an immediate impact on fan excitement

For now , 6 wins is a huge accomplishment for those of us that have stuck around. Everyone else it’s a “okay wow RU doesn’t completely suck” kinda reaction

You speak the truth. If we had beaten Wisc or Michigan the buzz would be palpable. But right now the general feeling is we don't have much chance on Sat. If we do win, excitement will go through the roof.

well said even though you'll offend the cult

funny, 'I'll be very disappointed' as if anyone gives a **** what he thinks on this.

RU needs to get fans in the stands and RU needs a media campaign to address the lack of even local media love. Fans are not the problem, RU approach and governance of it's own future and resources is
