Teel is a former Rutgers QB who slung the ball around during arguably the best time for us fans. He's trying to drum up support to help the current players and coaches. Saying "as if anyone gives a **** what he thinks" is way off base.

I agree people likely care what he thinks..

But i don’t think him tweeting this is going to impact much. Not many people who didn’t want to go to game are going to suddenly want to after reading the tweet. I guess a few will, so sure it helps, but again, winning a big game is what will help most

I can see the complaint threads starting:
1. Students arrived too late
2. Students left too early
3. "We" have such a weak fanbase
4. Tailgaters who did not come inside should be ashamed
5. Game presentation is to blame for poor attendance
6. People did not want to come watch a bloodbath
7. Complaints about horse video, train horn, etc.
Can we just roll all those into one, post them now and get them out of the way before Saturday?

If the stadium doesn't look full by mostly Rutgers fans then shame on us! This team is doing their part, we need to step up and do ours....which consists of drinking, eating, drinking some more then trudging to the stadium then screaming our lungs out for 4 hours for RU! Not a bad saturday gig! Lets go RU!!!

His tweet had 51000 views. That’s 51000 people who cared enough what he thought to view his tweet.

Again, don’t think it’s gonna change anyone’s opinions on whether to go or not, but we live in an age where almost Everyone cares about other peoples opinions.

I was at USF in 2007 and the crowd noise and swirling towels were pretty epic.
Some crowd support can defo help - especially in later minutes.
If you watch a lot of Ohio you'll see teams hanging with them through almost 3 quarters and then they buckle - Ohio St pounds you down.

Remember, you're dealing with an infantile moron, so what do you expect? Nothing at all wrong with Teel's comments. I think this will close to a sellout, given our momentum, the #1 team visiting and spectacular weather.

Cheers and yes to what you put above. Will you be at the game? I'll be in Blue at 8 am.

We're at every game in the yellow lot, usually about 3 hours before kickoff, so 9 am tomorrow. Was in blue for years, but moved to yellow about 15 years ago, due to the long exit times after games.

Nothing wrong with what he said and he can definitely say it. I think he does a good job with analysis on the radio broadcasts too.

He’s right, it’s very disappointing if we can’t sell out vs the #1 team.

However, don’t necessarily think it’s the fans’ fault. It’s been a blah program for a decade….there in lies the fault. We need a big win

This is just a tough sell right now. And publicly there is no buzz about Rutgers in the Garden State. I think if we go 2-2 for our last 4 games, we'll start getting positive publicity throughout the state. But now? It just ain't happenin'.

I know a good amount of people that bailed out on the Mish St game cuz of the rain , so they are def going tomorrow to get their tailgating fix in

The tailgate was actually pretty good for Michigan State: the game, on the other hand, .............

When we win tomorrow, I'm storming the field. In '06, I stayed at my seat and watched. Now I'm an older, wiser man of 45, and I realize how few and far between these are. My head says OSU by about 24, but my heart says RU by 1. I'll see you on the 50 yard line.

I don’t expect a packed house (though I did a week ago)…my extra ticket was still tough to get rid of and I don’t sense much excitement around.
Me neither. While hardcore RU fans on this board and local Ohio State fans are excited for this game, the average NJ/NY college football fan expects a complete blowout and doesn't want to waste their time or money.
There will be lots of OSU fans in attendance
Correct. That's really the only chance Rutgers had at a legitimate sellout but it doesn't look like that will be happening now based on the number of tickets still out there and the relatively low prices.
Empty seats demonstrate a Rutgers football problem, not a community problem.
Exactly.
RU needs to get fans in the stands and RU needs a media campaign to address the lack of even local media love.
I really wish Hobbs would clean house at the athletic department because they've completely botched this Rutgers football rebuild, which despite the lack of signature wins is starting to take shape. Instead of recognizing the football attendance problems and the reasons behind it, the athletic department has been announcing fake sellouts and living in a fantasy world where RU fans pack the stadium and are lining up to spend thousands to travel to bowl games. It's simply not rooted in reality. Start by lowering ticket prices and, like you said, doing media outreach dedicated to reaching the casual NJ/NY football fan and getting them interested in RU football. It's not that difficult.
Relax. I have no doubt Rutgers will announce the game as a sellout regardless of how many tickets it actually sells.
LOL, you're exactly right. RU Athletics will almost certainly announce a "sellout" sometime in the next 24 hours and someone will dutifully post that misinformation on this board.

I am booked the morning with the dude who puts speakers on the top of his Grand Marquis but gets blasted out by the youngsters across from him.
Why do people insist that others be forced to listen to their taste in "music"? Now that's something for the Po-Po to do.. crack down on that nonsense and not the in-control imbibing.

No more Grand Marquis, remember?

Well I'm exempt from that because I'm a DJ!

Re: Teel’s note. Not his place, or anyone’s place, to judge how others spend their money. Nobody should care if he ends up disappointed.

Empty seats demonstrate a Rutgers football problem, not a community problem.

Whoever doesn’t attend is choosing to do something they prefer instead.
Just relax. He's not making a statement about anyone's financial decisions or trying to shame people. He's just stating a fact. No need for the indignation.

No specific offense intended. Just think that settings like tailgates, beaches, campsites etc... play it low volume or not at all. The volume-knob wars just make it more and more noise. Maybe there could be officially selected music piped into every lot from a single DJ who makes teh selections according to mass appeal. No one gets to choose their own music.. or hand out headphones to all... do one of those MP3 sync play things..

No.. none of that will ever happen.. just a rant.

Mike bleeds the program. And he is right, this game should be an absolute sellout and our fans should not be selling to OSU.
While, on one hand, you have to face reality and what we have done since Ash has pushed attending RU football away from so many people. But- we have the number 1-3 team coming in and the national media has made it known everyone is watching this game. It has to be a sellout and would jump L'Ville 06 as the biggest win ever if we can pull it off

The fact of the matter is, despite a 6-2 start, there’s still very little juice around this program that will get casual fans to attend this one. We shouldn’t need former players imploring our fans to show up..the fact they are says a lot.
OSU fans will buy up a good amount of tix. When I had season tix seats in 106, I was surrounded by OSU fans because our season ticket holders sold out to them.

isnt 106 the area right behind the visitor bench. Used to be the home bench. I want to say that when GS used to gift me his tickets, that was the area we were in.
