Hendon Hooker played at Greensboro Dudley and led them to a state title....signed with Va. Tech but after a couple of years tranfer to Tenn...He was sensational and so was Young the QB for Ala..............terrific ball game...........

And Mr Hooker’s daddy was very good too. Led ER to their first ever State Championship back in 83. Best running QB I’ve ever seen in person. He attended A&T and was signed as FA by Cowboys who of course tried to turn him into a DB (it was the 80s).
Anyway very happy for younger Hooker and that apple/tree thing is usually true.

You had to bring that up, Kidd. What little I saw of him was from my seat on the ground five yards deep on the endzone sideline. After getting there two and a half hours before game time. But he made it down my way a couple times. The bad news for me was that he beat my Bulldogs. The good news was that it paved the way for getting state championships to larger neutral sites. Still wish that game had been at Simeon.
He was a great player.

I was glad to see Hooker a few times live in Hs. I remember the Richmond County game I seen him in.

Did Andy Headen , Eastern Randolph grad and New York Giant, play on that ER team with Alan Hooker ?
P.S. I"m pretty sure Mister Hooker still holds all the passing records at A & T.

No Andy graduated in 78, was a senior my freshman year. He went to Clemson and was DE on their National Championship team. Played with LT on Giants Super Bowl team.

It was a awesome game to watch. Here is a pic from my seats. I have had season tickets since 2008.

What happened to Marley. I was looking forward to getting to watch him play. Wish he would of stayed at TN.
That is a question people often ask. When time has passed a little more I might can elaborate on that some. Part of it, but definitely not all, was the change in HC from his recruitment.

Let's be real young didn't get a lot of calls that QBs get am surprise he was able to finish the game with all them hits to the Head and no calls
There was one hit and it was reviewed. It wasn’t targeting. Hooker got hit last year at Alabama when a player launched. Hooker lost teeth on the hit. The refs didn’t call targeting

Why is no one calling out Saben for TERRIBLE clock management? With over a minute to go he runs 3 straight pass plays and sets his kicker up for failure...plus giving the ball back to a hot QB and offense. Why not run the ball, at least forcing Tenn to call TO so they don't have any...Terrible clock management by a HOF coach...and how does Tenn. jump to 3 after giving up 49 pts.? Just my 2 cents worth.

Criticize Saban all you want. No problem with that. As far as Tennessee jumping to 3…That 49 points was “given up” to ALABAMA!!! And they scored more…😂

When Saban has to actually coach it’s usually a failed test. He just has better players than anyone most of the time. Great coach would not give up 52 to Tennessee with 1 receiver man handling you.

I don’t understand with that many people on the field how they thought they would keep the goalpost from coming down.

I called out Bill O'Brien heavily for it. Was not impressed with him in 2005 at Duke. I am probably giving the ball three times to my stud or let the QB go with an RPO. Could not believe that series.

On that last drive Gibbs dropped a pass on 2 and 10. If he would of caught it he might of scored or had a big gain that would of made the FG easier for Bama.

Very possibly a score but definitely a big gain that is most likely a game changer with the Bama winding the clock down of a short FG which has been a given this season.
