Looking for some info. I played a lot when I was younger (13-15), tournaments and leagues. Havent played in 10 years now. Where should I join? Also not familiar with the rating system and what I should list myself as. I pretty much need to know everything.

If you played on the juniors tournament circuit when you were younger, you should probably self-rate at 3.5. Otherwise, 3.0. As for leagues, now is a good time to ask, because the season starts pretty early in the year and if you wait till February or March, you've missed out on the spring season. Season's are:

Spring - Men's leagues with everyone playing at their level. This is the main season.
Summer - Combo mixed doubles (for example, I played on a 7.0 team which means you can either play a 3.5 man with a 3.5 woman or you can play a 4.0 with a 2.5 either way).
Fall - Combo men's doubles (I played on a 6.5 team where we played a 3.5 player with a 3.0)
Late fall / early winter - Singles

The spring season is 2 singlescourts and 3 doublescourts for each match. The other seasons are just 3 doubles courts. All matches are best 2-of-3 sets with a tiebreaker to 10 being played instead of a full 3rd set.

Contact Lesley Moseby and let her know you want to play. Her e-mail is [email protected].

about self rating. I don't know about the local politics in Jackson, but I have seen players self rate and get DQ'd halfway through the season becuase they rated too low. Sucks for them and the team. I'd suggest going out to a local club and hitting with the pro or established guys to better hone in on your rating. Rather rate too high than too low for sure.

I'm heading out tonight to play in the state combo championship. Our team is weak, too many guys out. I'm looking just to pick up a win or two at the state level and maybe ruin some other's teams day.

I've seen you guys go at on twitter. Quite hilarious I must say. Didn't know until now (not the biggest regular here) that you really played. Always thought you were just 17ing with him.

Both were very blagrant sandbagging on self-rating. One of them got pretty nasty. Coincidentally, SPS posters were involved in both cases (not as the DQ'd player). You can still sandbag in the Jackson area if you're reasonable about it, but for the first time I can remember, they're actually starting to crack down on it a little bit.

I heard that this year in 6.5, one second place team was DQ'd and lost their spot in the wildcard playoff because they reported a bogus score for the last week. supposedly, the other team was going to forfeit, so to save them $150, they reported it as a win with fake scores. And were promptly busted.

At least that's what I heard.
