I'm am glad to know that the most prized area of the Junction was not used for the tent rental. I saw that you guys were placed on the hill next to Cullis Wade Depot. I would have come to visit, but I could not find a Sherpa or a Yak to brave that treacherous hill. In all honesty, the location was pretty good for you guys except for the slope. Also, sorry to hear about the satellites not working. Rumor has it that I took a dump on your receiver. Unfortunately, this is not true. But a good time was had by all. Especially the tent rental guy. It's my understanding that he did not have to share any of the revenue with the university.

to purchase your exact spot from the University. They are going to bronze my wing tips and put them on my newly acquired space with a sign that says "Reserved for Louis."

I haven't closed yet, but it is proving surprisingly affordable.

edited because I can't spell or type complete sentences and generally speaking I'm and idiot.

My tailgate group was tent #20, and we had an AWESOME spot in The Junction. It was in the heart of the Junction 3 tents deep from the sidewalk and about 25 yards from the Christmas tree. We weren't anywhere near the Depot. There were probably 10-15 or so other other "rental" tents around us. You're wrong.

As has been said, didn't have to set up or take anything down. We were about 20 yards from the Christmas tree and had a great time.

You girls are so sensitive. The tailgate spot was in a good location. There was a slight hill. And I truely hate that the satellite did not work for you. For those that did not know Cullis Wade Depot is next to Barnes and Noble. It is true that MSU gets no money for the service. (Which I think is wrong). For what it is worth, I'm glad everyone had a good time and I have no problem where the tents were set up. </p>

What was up with the satellite reception not working? If you guys only knew how much trouble I went to to get all my **** setup adjacent to several people that actually brought TVs.

Had four different people come up an ask what I did to get it to work. So something was up.

Drink beer and wait was all I could tell them.

They set up at 5PM like the rest of us. I heard they have a crew that works fast as hell. They had 15 tents set up before we could get two of our four. The only tent to my knowledge that got to set up early was a face painting tent.

I've never brought a tv to my tailgate but w/ the prices of flatscreens so low i figured i'd join the fold. I've got an old directv receiver and dish. I need some sps expert advice on where to buy one of those tripods and also some suggestions on how to power everything. Those honda run-quiet generators are too rich for my blood. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Make sure the satellite is pointed in the right direction. Everyone says that you have to have a clear shot of the southern sky, no trees in the way.

the wife and I went running on campus last Wednesday night and most if not all of the big "group" tents " that are paid for were already up in there designated spots. A majority of these are not located in the junction and are in areas not considered high priority. I know that the group that we are in with is a large group tent next to the inflatable kid zone and there is plenty of room around us.

At the risk of sounding like I'm defending DentalDawg, which I'm not, I think he's a douche, I do see the difference between the people that setup tents for their own recreation and those that setup tents for profit. Maybe somebody well versed in law can chime in, but I would guess that what the University giveth, they can taketh away. As long as the $$ folks are making off providing a tailgate setup service is immaterial to MSU, I could never see them getting involved as long as those folks aren't muscling out others by force and infringing on everyone's good time (which I DO NOT think is the case). But, if it were ever a big $$ venture, wouldn't MSU be able to get their cut one way or another? Again, I don't know the legalities of the situation, but it would seem that fans being able to set up tents and tailgate on university property all day is lumped into the "privilege" category, not the "right to profit" category.

the for profit issue could easily be handled by the university if they ever wanted to do it. i am actually a bit surprised they aren't getting a cut. afterall, a company is running a business on their property...state property. i bet if i were to try to set up a tent that was selling hamburgers on campus or t-shirts or whatever..that the university would expect me to have a permit and give them some cash. i don't see much difference between that and the tent set-up service companies.

i knew some folks who wanted to do a golfcart transport service on campus during gameday and they were told they would need a permit to operate the business and that they likely wouldn't get it.

if i was a student at MSU and needed some cash I would definitely be pimping out some labor hours to people who want their stuff set up or cleaned up.

and to the other dentaldawg##%#243423, we don't need facts. this is a G-D message board. facts mean nothing to idiots.

1.The company is Southern Tailgate Traditions
2.Owned by MSU Faculty.
3.Pays exactly $0.00 to MSU for use of the grassy knoll.
4.Has zero experience in portable Direct TV hookups.
5.Pioneers in the ultimate "gridding" of the Junction for paid setups (which I would prefer)
