So, supposedly Terrance Davis is now running at the QB spot. Highly doubt this will happen, but id love to see him come in once or twice a drive as a change of pace formation with him at the helm ala Pat White. I think itd make our offense improve dramatically. But hell, what do i know, Ive never coached football, nor have i been the OC at the 114th worst offense in the nation.

with Davis since signing day. All I know is - he either better be able to throw the ball or better be so damn fast that it doesnt matter if he cant throw the ball. Otherwise we will just be inviting 9 into the box every time he lines up.

What are the odds we actually use him and use him effectively. Even when we had playmakers, we decide to do a wr reverse with the slowest white guy of the bunch. Some of the decisions just perplex me. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the coaches meeting for a few days.

...In certain packages, kind of like Tim Tebow in his first year. I doubt he takes more than 5-6 snaps a game, if that.

....there's no time to get him ready. True freshman.. late coming to camp... You'd be lucky to have enough to get him up to speed on 5 plays out of 2 different sets. Defenses would eat him alive. No way. Redshirt him.

He's just a change of pace. You could easily create a small package for him to run in certain situations, freshman or not.

the 6th worse or the 114th best offense? (Note.....I think we finished 113 out of 119. Maybe not)

Remember now, the hot rumor is we're going to be vanilla on offense until Auburn. That would be plenty of time to get him work on the new packages we're running. That is if your the type that believes unsubstantiated rumors, or that the Gulf Coast Offense can be innovative.

makes me cringe. if true it just shows more to me that croom will never get it. we won 9 game in three years and then had a decent year last year. yet we are good enough to sandbag with an offense that hasn't broken 100 yet for the first two games because we are playing "lesser" opponents. if we lose to 17ing tech and we aren't utilizing all of our ****** offense then i am going to be pissed.

I think it's pretty clever. Auburn obviously won' t have any film on our new schemes and that's certainly to our advantage. As pessimistic as I have been about the upcoming season, we should be able to beat La Tech and SELU without having to throw the kitchen sink out there.

This has actually worked before- against LSU in 1991 we beat them by going exclusively to the wishbone and got 28 points before they could adjust to it. Hell, maybe we should try that this year against them.

i would rather we just kick the asses of those two teams so that our guys actually get some game time experience of whatever new (if any) that we have available this year. if it is good enough then we should be able to beat auburn without any gimmicks (very wooly comment).

i agree that it could work but at the same time it simply scares the hell out of me that we would hold back on something that is CLEARLY our weakest team characteristic. holding back a trick play or two isn't that big of a deal though.

last i do have to say that it does feel good to hear we have progressed to the point where we are looking past some teams for other games but again i hope we don't do it to the point that one of those teams sneaks up on us and wins.

see 85-90 % of Croom's Offense in the 1st game. Unless it's close, then you will see 100% of it.

One of your points in the endless threads below was that there is no way we can see that much of it because it is too complex to learn.

for once. This is his fifth year, I think he's maybe catching on to some things.

If he is going to surprise Auburn, and pulls it off, I'm going to give credit where credit is due.

it seems as if Kodi Burns has not even secured the starting QB role at Auburn. I have a feeling they're going to be very average on offense.

Kodi Burns does not have what it takes to be a full-time starter at QB in the SEC. He just doesn't. He can be a decent "change of pace" QB for a series or two, but Tubberville lost the MSU-AU game last year by not putting Cox back in the game before we got the lead with a minute or so remaining. He also screwed up by getting totally caught by surprise by the 3rd and 12 draw late in the game when it was obvious we were running the ball on every play.
