Terry Smith is 2-3 as HC, with wins against mediocre MSU and Nebraska teams.
Hardly as inspired as some of these players are leading people to believe.

I feel like the interim coach gets the emotional player/fan support more often than not in these types of situations. Maybe it's just me remembering the Mickey situation with us. But it feels like it happens all the time and rarely does that guy actually get the nod. Although, I think it was a similar situation with Freeman at ND and they pulled the trigger with him. So, who knows.
It was like when a lot of us dorks went all in on Mickey Joseph.
Coach Rhule didn't do his Penn State buddy any favors by turning Saturday's nights game into a 3 1/2 hour promo for Smith to get the job.
When Ped State is down to interviewing a WR coach from the Redskins for the job, I think by now it is safe to say there is not a lot of interest in the job. When you ( Like NU did twice ) fire a coach who won 70% of his games, a candidate has got to be thinking that the bar is set too high and fan expectations are out of whack. From what I have read, this is between Engram, Smith and a few mentions of them circling back to snag Ruhle. Certainly not going to be the splash hire they thought they would get.
