# of division wins is not a stat. How many does Richt have? Dooley? Saban?

No one knows because it's not a statistic unless used as a tiebreaker in a particular season.

Pretty sure that's not the tie breaker. Hypothetically, assuming us, LSU, and Alabama all beat each other and finished 11-1 each, it would be the highest ranked team that would advance. I'm pretty sure of this.

Can't compete with the elite? Who can for the most part? I would say that all but maybe 10 non-SEC teams in the country wouldn't get their *** kicked on a regular basis playing the in SEC West. Michigan, Louisville, and West Virginia would get likely get killed in the West yet they are ranked too.

Mullen's record versus the West is an anomaly that comes from having to play teams ranked in the top 15 almost every time (except for Ole Miss of course). I do think we should compete better on the field even if we lose than we have been doing however.

You can say what you want, but TAMU will be competing for the west title in ab out 3-4 years. Unless Sumlinn can't coach 'em

Division Record comes before BCS ranking. First is head to head. If it's a three team matchup and head to head doesn't resolve it, I think division record may be the next tie breaker. it may be the third or fourth tiebreaker, but I think BCS ranking only comes into play when all the other tiebreakers fail.

Also, the SEC West this year is not the same as the SEC West in the last 3 years. Auburn and Arkansas were not terrible in the last 3 years. Each of those two averaged 10 wins in the last 3 years. They won't combine for 10 wins this year.

I agree but we also don't have an enrollment of 50,000 students, the number of ultra wealthy alumni, and the recruiting base that they do. Missouri, on the other hand, will probably get their *** handed to them more often than not for the forseeable future.

Sure we all want MSU to be like Bama and LSU but there is no shame in being a mid-level SEC team which is generally also a top 25 team. You have to walk before you can run and we have to become consistent winners before we can expect to take that next step.

Where in their past 10+ years history...

leads you to believe they will be competing for SEC West titles? The last time aTm won more than 9 games in a season was in 1998. They haven't been winning Big12 titles so why would they be winning titles in a tougher conference? In fact besides this year Mizzou has had the better football program for the last 7-8 years.

Sumlin is living a charmed life so far...

..he beat Ole Miss off a single Freeze coaching mistake; his offense was forced to score 59 points in order to beat LA Tech; he walked into a MSU bunch that had their collective fingers up their asses. The law of averages will eventually catch up to Sumlin.

You're seeing a team with a very good O-line chock full of seniors combined with a special qb tailor-made for Sumlin's offense. There are going to be good while Manziel is there, but they will probably take a step back next year.

A&M definitely has the resources to compete for the SEC West and is a sleeping giant, but until they actually compete for more than one year, I'm going to assume they are still sleeping.

Anyone think Johnny Football has something to do with this? Think Chizik without Cam Newton, aTm will come back to earth when the wonder child is gone.

No, what I am seeing is a #4 ranking in recruiting. A very very good recruiting base in the state of Texas, with the SEC behind their name. I don't know if Sumlin is the guy, but they will have the athletes to compete

They are from the state of Texas, where recruits fall out of trees. They are ranked #4 in recruiting right now, AHEAD of both LSU and Alabama. They now have the SEC to draw the recruits. They will be competing with bama and lsu for a west title in 3-4 years, IF Sumlin can do the job. And if he can't they will get someone who can

I tend to agree. Unfortunately the wonder child will be there at least two more years.

Yes but history has said they are not a top 10 program and LSU and Bama are. Texas has lots of talent but aTm also has to fight off Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, OkState, Baylor, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Alabama for their in-state recruits. Telling me they have a current #4 ranking in recruiting doesn't outweigh the fact it's been 14 years since they won atleast 10 games in a season. It would make sense that a school with the enrollment and money that aTm has would be a top football program but they just have not been that yet. Until they are I'm just going to keep labeling them as an above average program that always falls short of elite. You give them too much credit just because they have Texas in their name. Who does the University of Texas consider to be their main rival, Oklahoma or aTm? That should tell you where aTm falls in the pecking order that is college football.

The past is in the past. The fact that they are in the SEC is a turning point for them. This is going to hurt OkState, and Arkansas recruiting in that state in my opinion. This will allow them to hold their own against Texas, who has always been their main competition. The SEC is going to be a huge draw for them. I may be way off base, but when is the last time you have seen TAMU with a top 5 recruiting class? We will see in 3-4 years if I am right or wrong.

ESPN has them #13 and you have them #4...

just another reason I don't follow recruiting till January. It's all ******** until actual signing day.
