i find it a bit ironic that we have guys shoot guns on campus and do everything in our power to keep them from getting in trouble with the law and try to find a way to get them back on the team. seems a bit inconsistent.

its way worse to make a racial slur than it is to shoot at someone, assaulting someone, or possessing drugs

"All the hunters gather up, we have a ****er in the Whitehouse."

That's what he wrote. I don't think the majority of the Texas football team would welcome him back after that.

to quote J. Peterman: "I have a feeling that what you are about to go through is punishment enough. Dismissed."

No doubt what he did was wrong. But if he really did lose his scholly and he can't afford Texas anymore I would consider a suit. I mean ****, this is what the ACLU is for. The guy was essentially fired by the state of Texas for expressing his political views outside of work.

Let's say he was a government employee in Texas. On his free time, he is an active member of the KKK. However terrible and horrible being a member of the KKK is, they can't fire you for your political orientation, sexual orientation, religion, race, gender, etc. </p>

It's a double standard, but it's racist to point out that it's a double standard.

He used the N-word. If you kicked off every player who used the N-word, you wouldn't have a single African-American in college football. They use it all the time. Also, do you think a black would be kicked off for using the word "redneck" on a facebook page?

entirely accurate. Believe it or not, the ACLU and the Christian Legal Society occasionally work together. In fact, sometimes the CLS will take suits defending other religious discriminatory practices.

But I see what you are saying. It's tough to win a suit defending someone who is politically incorrect.

This could be the dumbest post I've ever read on this board.

Edited to hopefully stay on topic....

This was a stupid move, but he's not alone. There were so many facebook statuses that were close to this level on Tuesday night. I don't understand people. It's not like facebook is an anonymous message board. Your name and your damn picture are right next to whatever your "status" is. I couldn't believe some of the stuff I was reading from people I thought I knew the other night.

that you think redneck and the n word are even in the same universe shows how ignorant you are.

And I am pretty sure if somebody posted on facebook that they wanted to hunt down rednecks and kill them, they would be kicked off the team.
