Texas has turned into a coaching graveyard.

You want to tarnish your football or basketball coaching career? Take the Texas job for a few years.

Program has turned into a revolving door of coaches, and they're all setup to fail. High dollar boosters see their program as a Lion, while the rest of us see them as a sheep.

Not too bad of a troll.
But doesn't change the fact that Texas has had the fifth most first round pick since 2010 with only 2 Tournament wins.

What does have to do with 2010?

When you look at basketball jobs most important thing is the ability to recruit and the ability to build a program.

So a place like Texas that has recruited well even without success is one of the Top 5 jobs in the country.

Best basketball jobs in the country right now are at football schools
Texas
LSU
Georgia
Alabama
Florida State

Removed Florida because they already had success

Just like football the talent is in these states but unlike football most of these schools don't have a program.

If Texas wants him Texas has the money.

If Beard really likes it at Texas Tech then the money wouldn't matter.

I see Shaka moving on the same way Holgorsen did. He saw the writing on the wall and knew the axe was falling. Zero NCAA tournament win at Texas under Shaka.

Overrated coach like I always said. Marquette is more his style and level.

About winning a NC

Just matters how Tech handles it if it happens.
Roy Williams left Kansas because he felt like UNC gave him a better chance. Wasn't just about going home.

But Kansas didn't melt as a program.

If Chris Beard leaves Tech they have to be careful on how they handle it.

Depends on if Texas wants to cheat and win or win legally. Beard gives them the right way. Calipari gives them the money to buy players.

Do you want to gamble probation?

Would be hilarious if Calipari would go to Texas. What would Oscar do?

If Texas was smart they would go Beard and not shaka Kentucky and go Cali.

Though Calipari probably won’t consider the job, who Texas hires may still have a big effect on Kentucky’s recruiting efforts.

Calipari tells players if they want to play in the NBA they should play for him

It is the NBA what he sells. One of the best in the business at it.

Like I said it has faults and Kentucky is realizing that we are moving into a new era.

I think Kentucky is looking to move on...

Every team Calapari has coached at went on probation right after he left.

This reads more like the Urban Myer to Texas story.

Kendrick Perkins tells a good story about Calipari recruiting him when he was at Memphis.

Didn't need him to go to the NBA...
Went straight there out of HS

That's right about Cal at UK always leaving a scandal behind. He should be safe at UK where those kind of things get glossed over like the KU shoe scandal. But it still infuriates me to watch the NCAA be so toothless and hypocritical. More so because the media, and to a lesser extent fans, just go along with it despite it being obvious. I'll preface this with the fact that I have no love for Boeheim. But when a Syracuse scandal was discovered over 5 years after it took place, Boeheim had to vacate wins from the time it happened AND serve a half season suspension at the time it was discovered. It was an academic scandal if I recall correctly that he had no provable connection to and one that could easily have taken place without his knowledge, but the NCAA still held him to account. Something like fake classes or "tutors" doing the work for the players pretty much amounting to players doing absolutely nothing and being awarding passing grades. Yet Cal never had to face any consequence for the scandals found at UMASS and Memphis which he definitely did or at least should have known about. It's not like Pete Carroll at USC who was out of the NCAA jurisdiction by the time the scandal was out. Again, not saying Boeheim shouldn't have been punished, but Cal has much more provable dirt on him and yet the NCAA let's him go on without punishment altogether.

Putting his name in the transfer portal

Giving up on them already.

I thought you or one of your google handles said IU was going after Smart or someone you mentioned like you were in the know. I didn’t realize Marquette was a promotion over Texas until I GOOGLED the history. Marquette is a better job I’m I wrong on that TVZ?

Heard Texas people told him to take the job cause he was going to be fired. So they worked the deal out so they didn't have to pay that money. Now they can out bid whatever Texas Tech throws at them.

Texas top 7 candidates...

Really Rick Pitino. Does Texas have a stripper pole already?

Rick Pitino, Iona

If this coaching search was based solely on coaching chops, Rick Pitino would be No. 1 on this list. He's a Hall of Famer and two-time national champion. But Pitino comes with some baggage, which is why he's at Iona to begin with. His alleged misdeeds at Louisville are still under NCAA scrutiny and there were multiple scandals during his time as the Cardinals coach that Texas would have to either gain more clarity on or, frankly, overlook. Still, a 782-277 career record and bullet-proof resume on the court is appealing even if the rest of what comes with Pitino is not.

This can't be true because our faux Texas fan and insider ridiculed other posters who suggested that Smart would be fired after the embarrassing loss to Abilene Christian. He babbled some drivel about the players liking Smart when it was pointed out that he had been 100% wrong about Tommy Herman, who fake Texas fan also had said wouldn't be fired.

Source: Texas Longhorns ‘Invited’ Shaka Smart To Leave For Marquette

According to a high-placed Longhorns source, decision-makers at the University of Texas met with Shaka Smart on the Monday after the NCAA loss to work towards an amicable departure.

Sounds like WVU and Holgorsen deal.

Texas and Dana Altman. Former Marshall Basketball Coach. Surely they can't be serious and are just waiting for Thursday when Beard buyout drops to 4 million.

Becky Hammon, seriously. Texas trying to be politically correct or something?

Dave Joerger - I just can't see Texas going the pro route unless they miss on their man Beard.

Beard is their top guy and they're going all out to get him.

Texas surely will screw the pooch on this hire if they don't get Chris Beard. They will be devastated and select some assistant coach that drops their program down to dirt.

Even having a bad year. They are still top of the conference in all major sports.
Too much in-state talent in football, basketball and baseball.
Even for a so called football state the amount of basketball talent is ridiculous.

There's only one team at the "Top" of the Big 12 conference in football, and it's the school that wins the league every year. Perhaps, your modest intellectual endowment precludes you from understanding the difference between top and upper half.

Whatever you want to tell yourself...
Upper half would be Top 5.

WVU is already adopting that Big 12 mindset.
Regardless of what Texas does you attack them

You always have to have the last word, even when you're completely wrong, and that's one reason as to why you're treated like a human pinata on this board. You're not going to change the definition of "top," no matter how hard that you try to do so. "Top" means the highest point of something. It doesn't mean third place in a 10-team conference. If Texas were at the "top" of the Big 12 in football, then Texas wouldn't have just fired its head coach.

Yeah they would...
They pushed out Shaka and he won the Big 12 Basketball Tournament.

So, the same faux Texas fan who said that Smart wasn't going to be fired after the Abilene Christian debacle is now posting that he was fired essentially? You know nothing about Texas, other than how to search Google for the word. You also said that Herman wouldn't be fired, and he was, because he sucked. Had Herman actually won the Big 12 this season, then he wouldn't have been canned, as the burnt orange brigade would have been so happy not to have been OU's read-headed stepchild for once in many years. Moreover, Texas wouldn't have lost to, or even played, a cupcake in its CFP semifinal game, so no Abilene-like embarrassment would have been possible for Tommy.
