The zone offense today was atrocious. And don't be surprised if more teams don't start doing it more against us.

We went 6 -8 minutes against it settling for contested threes and no bigs were popping out to the ft line. When Moultrie finally started doing that, we forced them back to man-to-man.

in how we won. That was a BIG win no matter how it happened. Bottom line against a zone is you can do whatever the heck you want to but it all boils down to hitting shots, and some of them better be from outside. If you aren't you are dead because the zone just packs in tighter and tighter.

Every sixpack user knows that you have a spreadsheet of posting topics everytime State loses. When they win yougive credit toanything from the weather to the pom squad.

You want Stanbury fired, we get it. You think that Pelphrey is great. You are so stubborn that you claim that he is great even after he was fired for 4 years of failure. You want MSU to hire coach _____ because he is much better than Stansbury. Coach ______ would easily keep our Final Four talent (that saves Stansbury's job) every year because of ________ and _______.

I'm having a great day. I'm sorry that you aren't.**</p>

was when Bost hit the 2 DEEP threes, the 2nd and 3rd ones. NO zone in the country can defend a hot hand from 24ft. Up until that point, their zone had been very effective in taking Moultrie out of the game. The conventional way to beat a zone is slash drives, preferrably to the middle, before kicking the ball out to whichever man is most open once you draw the double team. Basically, you concentrate the zone inside, to free up the shots from the outside. We didn't do this a single time in this game that I recall, but you don't have to...IF you can consistently hit NBA threes.

Basically, their zone took our inside game away, and their man coverage took our outside game away. They are an incredible defensive team. We played excellent D today as well...the best I've seen us play all year.

We beat them because we are more well-rounded team on the offensive end...

We just played and beat one, who we are not likely to beat at their place anyway. We have to win the games at home however and whatever it takes....like today, beat the teams on the road that we "should", and try not to lose 5 or 6 road games by 25 points so as to not end up a 8 or 9 seed somewhere.

This team had a couple of bad shooting games against 2 pretty good teams in Tenn and Bama....and still won. They will shoot it better.... Law of probability and such**

He makes a thread *regardless* of win or loss. Should come on here giving Stans mad props because we win an ugly game with last minute theatrics? No. We didn't win due to some brilliant scheme, we won because Bost and Bryant were clutch, so they get the most credit.

Also, Moultrie was an uncontrollable beast against the man defense.

How many jump shots did Hood miss (0-6)? We were 0-13 from 3 at one point. We had some good looks too, it wasn't just Bama's D.

We talked all week how the quick turn around was going to hurt us. We played a tough game Thursday and it showed up today in our jump shots. Credit our D and Bigs.

If we hit 25% for the game we win easily. We played great defense and they had just as much trouble as we did but the game is simple, if you can't shoot, you can't win and today we made just enough to win. Hood had a bad game and Steele did too but we overcame it and it was a huge win for us.Now, maybe some of you will realize we did what most good teams do, we held serve at home and If we win Wednesday night, it will give us a break before we have 2 really tough road games. Bost was huge but that is what Seniors are supposed to do and anybody not giving Stans and the staff credit just doesn't get it.

That, and the fact that we were playing at home.

An unemployed coach should know a lot about a job at dippin dots. If you were still a coach, you would have realized that Stansbury won the game with the inbound call. Grant was outcoached and allowed the free deep pass. Game over.Stansbury beat a decent team with absolutely terrible shooting from his guards. Most of the shots were well-coached plays and open. The players didn't make the plays. Stansbury isn't perfect but he is still employed as a coach. (ouch!)

Have a nice day!

Go read Bost's post game quotes. The call was to inbounds to Moultrie, Bost changed the call and told Bryant to go long.

Using your usual logic that winning close games is a good measure of coaching ability, would you say Grant got outcoached?

If it's asbad as you say it is, why has anyone ever played man against us in the last 10 years?

Your hate is palpable.

I don't even like Coach that much. I've disagreed with him many times over the last few years. But do you know what? People give him way too much crap about stuff they're wrong about.

Don't follow Brad Locke, Marcello or even pay attention to the post game. It was stated that they play call was for Moultrie to get the ball on the inbound and Dee looked at Bryant in the huddle and said "go long" . Yes, Dee saved our *** tonight. End of story.

You won't get any of them to commit on something specific like that, just more of the same the coaching sux threads. I am sure the resident board jester will still blah blah blah about how much better Grant is, etc.

We had some guys that could shoot it the last few years- so our inability to break down a zone was masked somewhat because we could make a few three's from 25 feet out...but when you dont have that bailout, and actually have to work to break it down and get it inside, it really shows. Today we got the bailout- a couple of 25 foot 3-balls when we were trailing and had no answer for the zone. Thats no special design and you know it- you can get a 25 foot shot at the basket nearly anytime you want.
