I finally got power back here at my house in Madison, AL. It's been a wild ride since Wednesday morning. I suppose when we were shoved into a cooler at Krystal over lunch on Wednesday I should have known it was going to be crazy. A huge EF5 tornado that was probably an EF4 by the time it passed 5-10 miles north of me knocked out all our power and what is probably an EF1 (it hasn't been given an official assessment yet) went about 200 yards south of our house. I'm just glad to be alive and am now glad to have power and intarwebs back. It's been crazy, but we still have a long way to go in recovery. There are a ton of MSU alums who live in the Huntsville area and I'm sure many of them need support of fellow Bulldogs in these times.

I am waiting word on an internship today. If I don't get it I am planning on joining the volunteer efforts for a few days this week with tornado relief. It is amazing how much hell these storms have brought across the region recently. Any help these people can get is much needed before the next line of storms come ravaging through.

my brother is there and was happy that the power came back on last night around 11pm. he said he was damn happy to have deer meat but didn't think he could eat deer burgers for another day in a row. fortunately some of it didn't thaw out so he was able to save it.

what is really crazy for him is if this had happened just a few weeks earlier he would have been in Iraq while his wife was home alone for it. now that would have sucked.

Anyways, the whole thing felt like Jurassic Park for a while. I was waiting for the velociraptors to show up when we got power back on. If anybody has friends in HSV they need contacted, I might be able to help. Granted, this is 5 days after the storms so most people would have probably been able to contact whomever necessary by now.

and out in Big Cove we got a couple of gas stations open Friday morning. Finally got around to cooking some Gulf Fish I had in the freezer. I finally started getting a little squirrely last night, but thank the Lord the power came on shortly after. Folks at Lowe's, Publix, WalMart, & Mapco did a great job out here. It could have gotten really ugly if water had been out and gas pumps hadn't started flowing.

Any one heard from RocketCityDog? I think he lives in SE Hsv, so he shouldn't have had any significant damage.
