the difference between the egg bowl and iron bowl rivalry was something most fans in ms wouldnt like to admit, but it was right on.
Bama and Auburn often do have other things to focus on outside of the game (namely bowl games, seccg, nc's)
Almost EVERY year EITHER om or msu is either not going to be in a bowl, will be eliminated from contention by losing, or NEITHER have a shot at a bowl.
Only rarely are both teams going to a bowl, so it stands to reason that one fan base is living for the idea of depriving the other of a bowl, or derailing the others fanbase of enjoying theirs because of losing the egg bowl.
So the egg bowl, in some respects is FAR more intense as it's all one or both fanbases have to look forward to for a year to relish.
I've always known this deep down, but what's always been comical is that any given year that one is going to a bowl game, that fanbase acts as if their school has long since left behind the care of the game while the other says "yea, right, lose the egg bowl and you wont get a moments peace".
