My mother sat out all day waiting to set her tent up and was told by the campus pd she could not set up in the spot she's been setting up in for the last 9 yrs. Apparently Adidas needs space to set up a merch tent so the "gameday committee" chaired by Tuck decided to displace a number of faithul for adidas. Just when things go well the admin manages to 17 things up and alienate longtime supporters. I get it, but a little notice would have been good.

BTW, this wasn't just one tailgaiting spot. The adidas merch tent displaced several other families tailgating spots as well.

Since we live in a world of mass communicarion and social media couldn't they have made a general announcement that tailgaters near a certain section would be displaced due to Stricklin prostituting the universtiy. Seems like it has worked in the past.

I understand business and marketing. Hell, I did it for a living. However, if they take it to a point of diminishing returns (sounds like they are well on their way}the short term positives will lose out to long term negatives. Overkill, and it will end up backfireing on them. My 15 cents.

Part of what has gotten us here is fan support. Dan says it all the time. Why sell out the first chance we get?

What freaking difference does it make where your mother sets up your tent? What does she do when someone sits in her seat in church?

Because that's where she wants to set up

What freaking difference does it make where your mother sets up your tent? What does she do when someone sits in her seat in church?

And maybe she wouldn't have to sit out there for six hours to get the spot she's had for 8 years if our dickless AD would have notified the masses that he was going to ***** the junction out this week, dickhead. God this board has grown to a bunch of dicks since 2002. I remember why I quit posting now.

I hate to say it but the state of Mississippi owns the land, not your mother.
She should write a thank you letter that they allowed her to store personal property there a few weekends a year for the previous 8 years.
No one has any right to any tailgate spot. An argument might could be made that current students pay for the right to use campus resources, but unless if you are telling me that she is a current student, I'm not seeing the issue.

I'm with you magee. It's not that hard to make those announcements. Furthermore, they should have staked off the places they intended to take yesterday so no one had any room for confusion.

Damn, did you come up with that all by yourself? If you want to make that silly, stupid argument, the property actually belongs to the taxpayers of Mississippi, of which, my mother is. Perhaps Stricklin, a humble civil servant, serves at the pleasure of the taxpayers, not to mention the students and alumni who put money into the university's coffers. Your argument is lame.

It is an issue, because dipshit stricklin decided to ***** the junction this weekend and didn't tell anyone. Maybe stricklin should write me and my family a thank you note for supporting a ****** team for most of our lives, traveling all over the country watching *** beatings coast to coast. Ive paid my dues, if I want to stake my claim and get pissed when the AD ***** on me I will.

Stricklin is a wormy little **** following in the footsteps of Larry Templeton. And he has nothing to do with our recent success, the fans, students, and alumni who made the investment do. And guess what, I don't know how long youve been a state fan but this success won't last forever, never has, never will. Fans like me and my family will be there after the bandwagon is empty. That's why you don't **** on loyal dues paying contributors.

I received an email on 10/30 explains the BDC was setting up a tent next to the alumni association tent. I don't remember if it mentioned Adidas having a spot though.

That negative attitude could've been part of the problem as to why we never had sustained success. Sounds like you and Stricklandz need to meet at the South Farm to sort this out.

Amen. Because there is nothing to complain about regarding the football team, people have resorted to whining about tailgating. That's right, tailgating.

You're dead on target. Continue to preach.

What's funny is that the internet superheroes here scream through 20 mbps that they want "traditions", but when the rubber meets the road they have no idea what that actually means. Apparently neither does our Athletic Department.

The Junction is a living tradition. It's for the fans. We have a Dawg Walk that circles The Junction. The Dawg Walk is for the fans. We have a race for fans to compete for real estate. The real estate is supposedly for the fans.

But all real estate in The Junction is not created equal. With some drainage work and other improvements, maybe some spots could become more attractive, but right now that's not the case.

And of course the people that have been tailgating in The J for 8 years---since the beginning--know this. They know the routine, and they know the prime spots. So, when the "People's" University decides to take the prime spots with their ****** corporate graveyard scene and not notify anyone in advance, people TRY to continue their traditions and end up getting screwed over. And this isn't just a few fans.

So, if the University wants the space for themselves--great fine take it. Just give us some advance notice and tell us straight up. Don't be a spineless pos while continuing to swallow up the Junction piecemeal all the while pissing your fans off and ruining a great tradition in the making.

Mississippi State. God help us.

We all got that email and could see it going up midweek via the Gameday cam. If people were like me they watched it go up, were pissed off, but took it in stride and made other plans.

The main issue is that the other "reserved" spots went up later on Friday after people had posted up for the race.

The bigger picture issue is that our Gameday ops staff are pissing fans off and making our campus look like **** in the process.

Where's our 17n white 100 year anniversary unis Adidas? They better come up with some true replica jerseys with SEC logos and 100 year logos too.

I used to have the same seats every year in the Hump, but they took them away, same with football. I also presently have seats in the baseball stadium that I bought for "Life". They will change the stadium and I have and will have to adjust. Change is normally good and you have to accept the fact that things will not stay the same. Be ready for the day that you have to pay for a prime tailgating site.

I hope that your mother found a place to put up her tent. By the way, how do you get your mother to do that? Mine would have had my father or me sitting out there all day.

You should contact Stricklin and express your complaint. I have found him to be very approachable (unlike LT).

Look sport, your mom has no right to that spot. Sorry but she should just move a spot over or something. It's the university's property not mine or hers, they can do whatever the 17 the want with it, including putting a turd sandwich or giant douche statue

Ok sport. I will remember that sport. Thanks for the advice sport. By The way, what 17tard calls anybody sport? Speaking of giant douche...

And it's not a simple matter of moving over a spot. And I get it, no one has a right to anything. But doesn't change the fact that stricklin and tuck are doing everything they can to 17 up gameday traditions and **** on the one's who have been loyal the longest.

I remember a day when the 6 pack was a place for rants like this. I can see oldblew is the same douche he was 10 yrs ago.

Just to make sure I understand, this was a public tailgating spot for which your mother made no financial contribution to use, correct?

If so, I wouldn't argue with you in the least that a little prior communication the Bulldog faithful would have been the decent thing to do, but I think you've got the whole LT mentality thing backwards. A lot of the reason that LT held us back for years was because he had a tendency to make commitments just like the one we're talking about in this thread that may have made a couple fans happy, but they provided zero value for the school or athletic department. If you really think that things were better off with LT than Stricklin after driving over on a gameday weekend during the past few years, then I can't help you.

Right, no financial commitment whatsoever. Tailgaiting is about a .0001% of the financial investment we've made to this institution. Not to mention the other 5-6 displaced tailgating familirs around us. Nice try though.

I credit stricklin with nothing. The foundation was laid by Greg Byrne and financially, well let's thank our friends in the offices of the SEC. Stricklin had nothing to do with a billion dollar tv deal for the conference.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone so upset about a tailgating spot. Get over it man. I promise you will have fun tailgating in a new spot.

If you will go back and look at the rules when we opened the Junction there was a rule on where tents could be placed for tailgating. That rule was that all individual tents had to remain behind the big white tents placed by the University. A imaginary line was drawn from the walkway to the Christmas Tree. All tents were to be behind this line because the University reserved everything north. Over the years they have allowed people to be in this area when it was not needed by the University. Today that area is needed and they are using it. Since you cannot have adverse possession against the state your mother does not have an ownership interest in her spot and has been excluded from that area. But ultimately this is the price of our success. I would much rather your mother have to move and we be where we are than she be in her spot and we are getting beat by Maine. Go Dawgs!!!!!

sounds like an obnoxious prick

What if a group of students say 15 to 20 got together and had 6 tents b/c they had friends coming to town. Let's say they got out there at 5 a.m. and got the spot before your mums did. Would they be dickless too?

Judging by the camera pic that was posted there is still a **** ton of junction left. Adapt and overcome.

I don't disagree with you on the land grab or the lack of communication about it. The total disregard for everything else Scott does is absurd though. This thread could have been a decent one if you didn't go to such an extreme. How about we discuss something else. I'll make it easy for you to back down from the tower with your sniper rifle.
