That’s a perception changing loss for Lebby

Our fans will hold that against him for a long long time and he’s gonna have to surprise us all and win a bunch of games for our people to get over something like that.

I am struggling to think of worse situational awareness in our history.

The perception wasn’t that great to begin with. It might have changed slightly…..but not that much.

He hasn't won a conference game. Arnett was fired for less on 1.5 years

even manny Diaz says you can win now. Why can't we?

Perception changed a huge deal when he beat AZ State and got to 4-0. And now it’s gone far below where it was when the season began.

This fat fućk just gave us a reason to fire him and not look like idiots. The TN game was the height of the roller coaster, and he found a way to dig deep and blow that one. Had Aggy in the crosshairs and shìt the bed again. And he pulled off what I would consider the impossible today. We were jobbed on the prior FG, but this dumb fucķ keeps letting Shapen kill this team.

We are fully justified to fire this clown in a few weeks. He has given us the green light.

My perception hasn't changed. I got a LITTLE hopeful after the AZ game but deep down I knew we weren't really going anywhere. Lebby just isn't a head coach.

He burned what good will he had gained after going 2-10 and then coming out and going 4-0 s d getting a good win on Arizona state which he always screwed that one up too

Lebby called the pass play, not shapen.

The only year I was head coach of a little league team we’re about to tie the best team in the league with a man on third with one out. We hit a line drive to center field and I don’t yell at the runner to stay on third because it seemed no way it gets caught. The center fielder makes an unbelievable diving catch, thus we don’t score and lose the game. Lebby just made the same type coaching mistake.

Lot of mistakes at the end. Starting with not using time outs when UF had the ball 1st & 10 with 2:30 remaining.

That's horse siht. A blocked field goal or the RB fumbling it on a strip tackle while centering the ball in that situation would've been more like that. Now if you had called for the runner on third to steal home, I'd agree with you.

Clock management was terrible. Why call a timeout with :29 sec left when he prides the offense for “going fast”? Save the timeout for a game winning FG. Even if Thompson caught that pass the field goal team would be rushed to get on the field as time ticks down. Luckily shapen saved us from seeing that horrendous decision by making one of his own.

Maybe. But he makes $4M / yr. He isn't volunteering to coach in his off time.

On the fumble in e red zone as play clock was running down, it looked like Shapen was still waiting for a play to come in from the coach?

Unless he goes 9-3 or 8-4 the rest of the season, he should be gone. That was really a fatal decision last night.

Remember that in reality, we just had a stroke of good luck to win the Arizona State game. Nobody expected it at the time.

This reminds me a lot of Moorehead’s loss to Florida. Different situation, but still a loss of faith in coaching ability that is unlikely to ever be recovered.

I have remained neutral on Lebby until now. I didnt know much about Lebby when he was hired, and I wrote off last season as wrecked via the transfer portal.

I have not been high on this year's team since I still think we lack SEC caliber talent at a lot of positions, and certainly lack depth. I've been saying 0-8 in the SEC for weeks now.

But I wasn't really negative on Lebby until last night. Too many mental errors from both the players and the coaches last night. Really sloppy play, and couldn't even pull off the win when UF tried to hand it to us.

A good coach pulls off the upset there.

Oddly enough, Hutzler has the defense doing a great job, albeit still with mental errors. Defense isn't really the problem this year

I don't know if firing him after two years makes sense, but it needs to be up for discussion.

The one big caveat I will say is the thing about perception is you can change it back in your favor by winning.

It’s hard to have much expectation right now but if he does find a way to beat Texas and/or Arkansas, I think many can forgive what happened yesterday.

And because it’s our fan base, a surprise Egg Bowl win is the ultimate trump card.

It’s not outside the realm of possibility that Ole Miss rolls into Starkville already locked into the CFP and/or SEC title game (or are out of the title game due to tiebreakers), and decides to rest a bunch of starters.

They get Oklahoma next week, and as of right now that seems like their last chance at a loss this season unless the Egg Bowl is meaningless for them.

They'll probably lose to Oklahoma, but will that be enough to eliminate them from the playoffs? Probably not - they're a pretty flashy team with a flashy coach who draws a crowd. And they'll likely be 10-2 at season's end. Eliminate bias, and they're a fun team to watch (I can say that since I don't live around their fans).

Are the playoff teams established before or after the Egg Bowl? Several other rivalries have already been played by then.
