I believe it was bout 5-6 min left and we took all but 9 sec off the clock. It was a beautiful thing to watch, not just the scoring play (which should easily make top 10) but the entire drive. Somebody just found a way to make a play on that drive. Russell is one hell of a leader. Also perk has not gotten the credit he deserves this season.

That drive just shows how poised our team is this season. The players and coaches should all be applauded for stepping on UTs throats in the waning minutes

On that last drive ESPN showed UT defenders on the bottom of the pile trying to pull Perkins helmet off. Something better be done about that ********.

It was a thing of beauty and Perk's stretch out to get the first down was huge.

I'm not sure why we came out so flat in the third quarter but we turned it around when we needed to. That UT receiver set the tone for us in the third when on the first play he broke six tackles and should have gone down for a loss and ended up gaining twenty. He is a great player.

I felt confident we would win the game from the outset...til that play. That's usually the type of play that becomes our undoing. This team really has no panic in them. And that's so unfamiliar.

And props to the clock operator who started it up after we ran out of bounds on the pass play to Bumphis(?) to get us inside the 10. Did I miss something there? It stopped for a few seconds, then started up during our huddle...ran about 20 seconds off.

They changed the rules in the last couple of years to where, until the last two minutes of each half, the clock starts on the referees signal, not the snap of the ball. Similar to a first down. Under two minutes, clock is stopped till the snap.

Not too smart on their part. All that would accomplish is get them some Josh Robinson who had already averaged almost 7 yards per rush in the game.

The clock only stops on out of bounds plays until the ball is set, then it restarts. Unless there are less than 2:00 left in a half. There were more than 2:00 left when Bumphis went out of bounds, so the clock started when the ball was set. The clock operator just did his job.

I think the rule is

If you rip another players helmet off, he doesn't have to come out of the game. Of course, the officials have to catch the guy ripping the helmet off.

Was discussing that with my nephews (one a UT/MSU hybrid) & my fellow dog from Caledonia setting next to me. I told them it was either 5:00 or 2:00, but I couldn't remember. Thanks to you (& jc, what a great name) for the clarification.
