That last minute TD will be huge.

It didn't win us the game by any means, but it looks a lot better to lose by 5 to the playoff committee. We lost to a top 5 team on the road by 5 points after making assloads of mistakes. Thanksgiving decides our fate. We do need help now but we can honestly take care of business and potentially still get in.

We had 2 4th qtr turnovers in the redzone and lost by 5 on the road to a Top 5 team. That's the narrative. We'll be in the playoff if we beat the Bears.

We just broke the gambling world on Bama's ***.. We had turnovers, out played them in the second half, and got 17ed by the refs.... Don't think for a minute all of this poll **** isn't directed by MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And bama has to beat Auburn. In no way is that certain by any stretch.

I can't say it's what Mullen was thinking, but the way it turned out will be much better in the big picture compared to what likely would have happened had we been more aggressive with the play calling at the end. Not scoring would have been big. A pick 6 would have ended our playoff hopes.

If all they are looking at is the final score, you are correct. But one could argue we scored late after the game had been decided and made it look closer than it really was. Sort of like our game with LSU.

I hope the committee considers it a respectable loss. We we will know more on Tuesday.

Any score in Tuscaloosa is a great score. They haven't lost at home since 2012 and that was to JFF. Before that it was the 9-6 game against LSU that ended with Bama destroying them for the BCSNCG where LSU didn't get past the 50yd line all game.

We out gained them by almost 100 yards, lost the turnover battle 3-0, and only lost by 5 at the hardest place in football to win.

This is as good of a loss as you can have. We can beat Bama and belonged. We'll be in top 4

A lot of you guys sound like the whinny UM people you were making fun of few weeks ago. This was our "once-in-70-years perfect storm" season and it's 17-up now. Face it, the "experts" were right - we're a paper tiger who got a bunch of lucky breaks playing LSU when we did, or getting up on AU early or that A&M sucks. Until we do it on the field, whining and excuses are for losers.

There is a reason 5-star coaches recruit 5-star players. They don't usually leave their balls in the locker room.

I agree. Mullen had to get that TD and he did. I like our chances if we meet them again on a neutral field and you can't help but think this was in the back of Mullen's mind too.

I'm more worried about winning the West than about however we may be evaluated by Condi Rice. And we've still got a good shot at winning the West.

As someone who was surrounded by Tide Pride boosters on the West side, I can assure you that no one there thought that game was over until they recovered the onsides kick. Sure they felt better after the 4Q TD, but it was nothing like the way we felt in the LSU game.

AP predicts FS #1, Bama #2 Oregon #3 and MSU #4

If that is true and we win out (we should/must), you will get your wish of UAT on a neutral field. Like you, I think we have a good shot at winning that game.

It`s hard to imagine but Auburn has fallen so hard I could see them mailing it in for the Iron Bowl. They`ve got major problems on the field and probably off the field from the way they act.

I think that's exactly what he was thinking. We played that last drive like we knew we had to get a TD for our playoff chances. If there was time left to go for the win after we scored, that would have just been gravy.

If it were just a regular season finale I could see them being flat. I don't think they mail it in for the iron bowl against Bama. Not sure they can beat Bama but I think they will come out ready to play. I certainly hope so at least.

If this is true it's just inexcusable to me. As long as there's a chance to win, we should be playing to win. It may have been a long shot, but score there with 1:00-2:00 on the clock and you've got a chance to recover an onside kick and score again. We were in a position to score with plenty of time remaining, but we squandered it by standing around and calling several runs that went nowhere and resulted in burned timeouts. Once we got down inside the 10, given the amount of time that remained, we should've been throwing to the end zone every play. I don't give a **** if it gets intercepted and we lose by 12 instead of 5. I'd rather lose by 12 while trying to win than "only" lose by 5 because we weren't.
