That thread about "Stansbury lied" is pathetic.

Why does it even matter whether he was more interested in building our team than he was in meeting Coach 34's approval? He is not an elected official. He is our basketball coach. He needs to say whatever keeps our team together and makes it stronger. He doesn't need to check with the Internet patrol on every coaching decision he makes. I'm amazed that anybody would think that this was an actual gotcha Stans opportunity. Wow.

When that's what you live for, you take every opportunity available, no matter how weak or pathetic.

and it's real similar to a high school coach getting fired but being allowed to resign and tell everybody a better opportunity came along.

So Stanbury choose not to embarrass Sidney when they left for Europe, big freakin' deal.

Personal vendetta versus criticism. It isn't too hard to see the difference in some opinions.

Sounds more like I am praying for disaster so I can yell "I told you so" is much more important to some folk than actually offering up a solid criticism.

True, it does sound funny to hear two versions of the story but I prefer to wait until I see the product on the court before I start calling for heads. Yeah, the last few seasons have been in the *******, but I think we all agree this is the season that makes or breaks things and most of us who are rational will call for the head man's job if we are shitastic once again. Some, however, have been waiting for that moment for a long time and smell blood.

but the whole situation is just really strange. So far, no one has been able to find the alleged quote that originally stated that it was Sidney's choice to go back to Houston, but I'm almost certain there was one. Assuming that quote does exist and it was just a coverup to help team chemistry as you said, that's fine, but then why suddenly make an official statement a month later stating the opposite? It sounds like someone that lied, knew that he was getting close to being called out on it, so then he made a quick statement to try to save face. Again, we've all done something like this in the past but it's still just odd and seemingly unnecessary.

“Everybody has their own opinion but I’m doing what I have to do,” Sidney said Friday. “There’s nothing else going on. They can say what they want to say but, like I said, I know what I have to do basketball-wise. I wasn’t ready to go (to Europe) and I felt like I really wasn’t in shape. I wanted to come back down here and get some more work.”</p>

It was Sidney's idea to return to Houston, as apparently he feels the need for more individual work (he was there in May and June).

As the author of the original question "So Stansbury lied?" my question was simply trying to understand, because I could have SWORN that Stansbury said in published media reports that it was Sidney's decision to go to Houston. Yesterday, it was said differently. That's all I was pointing out.

Stans tells Sidney he has to be at xxx weight in order to play on the team next year and/or go to Europe. <div>
</div><div>A week or so before the trip, Sidney comes back to school and Stans learns he hasn't met the weight. He sticks with his guns and says he can't go to Europe.</div><div>
</div><div>Sidney chooses to go back to Houston since he wasn't "Ready" (hadn't made weight) to go to Europe. He could have gone anywhere, so it was his choice.</div><div>
</div><div>None of these quotes disagree with that. Sounds like they are just protecting the studentathleteby not discussing ultimatums and weight issues.</div>

..this con-man *******, coach34, has actually fooled many of the weak-minded on this board into believing he's actually some sort of go-to guru when it comes to MSU basketball. Of course, Bernie Madoff convinced many people he was a reliable, trustworthy investment advisor, so there is a precedent for human beings falling for the biggest bullshitter the mind can conjure.

Watching people grovel at this idiot's feet is enough to present just cause for this board to be shut down.

I can fully understand why HD6 left this board when it came down to either him leaving or coach34 leaving.

and Stans and Sid BOTH handled it pretty well it seems to me. Stans and Sid bashing is begining to take on a life of it's own. I'm gonna wait to see what's on the court this yearbefore giving up on either.
