It was in reference to the fact that he thought Moncrief should've won an award. Had nothing to do with Banks until a MSU fan - who is also a preacher?? - started in on him.

Agreed. It was called the Conerly. #12 should have won it over the human turnover machine and the Pike's favorite *****.

And then he took the high road and responded...

Whatever. He earned the right to talk a little trash. I get that. He'll get his shot to make it two in a row.

Still a joke he won the Conerly and Banks wins this award. Might as well be the Egg Bowl MVP now that USM is truly irrelevant.

Edited to add: Banks winning the Thorpe isn't the only thing that makes the Conerly a joke, the fact that Bo Wallace wasn't even the best player on his own team really does. They should just make it the top 5 players and if one school has more than one so be it. That being applied I'd say the 5 should have been Banks/Russell/Wallace/Moncrief/Random guy from small school

Even in the response Wallace still only mentioned Moncreif. He never said anything about Banks. Weak minded, obsessed dogs made it about Ban ks and had to ***** about it.

whether Banks won an award or not had nothing to do with him. Heck, he's a good player but Moncrief didn't even make a lot of the All-SEC lists.

State would have had exactly the same record without Banks on the roster.

The only impact he had was getting destroyed in every big game. At a crucial point against Bama, he gave up a deep bomb to make it 14-0. The whole secondary was annihilated by Johnny Football. He had 6 tackles against LSU. He had 2 interceptions against Auburn and not a single one in an SEC game the rest of the year. Against Ole Miss, he had 3 tackles and was consistently torched by Mosley and Moncrief. He had zero sacks on the year.

He finished with the same number of INTs as Denzel Nkemdiche.

Banks is a good player and seems like a nice guy, but it is revisionist history to act like he had the same amount of impact on the games that Bo Wallace did. Wallace's 28 total TDs would have probably been the best in State history for a QB (I don't care to look it up). Plus, a cornerback will never, ever, ever be as important as a QB. And that's why Wallace won.

Was it stupid of him to respond to fans on twitter? Yep. But this after a State student tweeted his phone number out (which moronic Ole Miss fans dutifully reciprocated with Russell). And it was after a State "preacher" tweeted him telling him that it was a joke that he won the Conerly. Oh, and by the way, he responded by pumping up his teammate instead of himself.

I guess we'll see about all your "facts" when he is in the league huh? You shouldn't have to wait long to see.

but, wallace is great. Awesome and a man of unquestionable character. I admit he had a great game against us. HEY, it your time to shine. humility be damned, Jack!

So Tennessee at home is a meaningful game now? Last I checked, UT was

so awful that they fired their coach and then had to settle for their 5th choice to replace him. Yeah, Banks did something against a horrible team. Again, what impact did the "best CB in the nation" have against winning teams? Did he make a single meaningful play against a good team?

The Conerly award is not about who is the best pro prospect.

Of course Banks will play on Sundays and Wallace will not. But if you take Wallace off of Ole Miss, we win 3 games. Take Banks off of State, and State still wins 8. That stuff matters.

So lets talk about Wallace's "meaningful" play against a good team, lets say AL or Vandy. I'll hang up and listen.

Banks = future 1st rounder
Wallace = future assistant coach at emcc

Not that either have anything to do with this thread

How many times did Wallace...

He finished with the same number of INTs as Denzel Nkemdiche.

1. Lose the game for TSUN (TAMU, Vandy, others?)?

2. Almost lose his starting job?

Well if Wallace won because he's a quarterback, then let's rename it the TSUN - ClarionLiar Quarterback award. And just to refresh your memory, it's not the MVP award. It's the BEST PLAYER in Mississippi award! (Clearly that was Justin Cox).

And who tweeted first. I believe it was Russell's phone number.

Wallace tweeted at 6:54 right after Banks won at 6:50 by looking at the twitter timeline. I would say it had a little to do with Banks.

He won the award. It's going to help us land even more high profile DB recruits. Get over it.

At this point, we all know you do care. Again, get over it.

Any SEC game is a meaningful game. You would think a reb would be the first to admit that.

Wallace did his part. He had his career high in a game in which

bowl eligibility was on the line. The defense and play-calling failed us. He had an impact on the game by keeping us in until the end. He also had an impact on the A&M game, the LSU game, and the State game. All winning teams. Banks did not have a positive impact on a single game against a winning team. He did not have an interception or a shut down a receiver against a single winning team.

Is it all his fault? No. Not entirely. Just as it's not entirely Wallace's fault that we lost to Vanderbilt. However, Banks started yammering about winning the national title the week before Bama and promptly gave up a long TD to break State's will in the first quarter. Against 4 winning SEC teams, Banks was 0-4 and got torched repeatedly. Wallace also had a terrible record against winning teams, but at least he didn't completely disappear in those game and actually played quite well in a few of them. (Vandy, LSU, State)

There is not a single stat that will support your case that Banks played better against mutual opponents than Wallace did (not to mention what they did head-to-head).

I'm done. Enjoy your Thorpe win and watching Banks on Sundays. I wish him well because he's a Mississippi kid and seems like a nice one. I'll enjoy having two more years of Wallace and having the Egg.

You do understand that teams rarely threw to his side don't you? You do understand how a zone defense works don't you? You do understand that a safety is supposed to help over the top in zone coverage because........ah screw it.

Wallace might..you never know. And I don't know that I agree that if you don't have wallace you only win three. I thought he threw the ball well at times, but made alot of dumb throws too. I was more impressed with Brunetti's strides...at least against us. Maybe your passing attack wouldn't have been as potent w/o wallace. Our defense was pretty horrible throughout, take banks away and it is way worse. No corner, ever, in the history of mankind can hold coverage for 7 seconds in man when you get zero pass rush.

Wallace wasn't even the best player for Ole Miss...

They got it wrong plain and simple. Had Moncrief won it you wouldn't see people shaking their head at the result.

2 things... You DO realize that a good corner isn't thrown at a lot, right? Check out the number of times teams threw his way. Outside of a few games, Banks had a great year.

And secondly, saying "without Wallace Ole Miss wins 3 games" can be a little misleading considering you only won 6 with him, and he cost you two games. In fact, one could say that without the turnover machine, you guys win 8 this year.

Spin it how you will though, I get it. That 3 years was painful and cut deep, I know.

So with Brunetti and Mackey we went 2-10 last year, but with

them starting instead of Wallace, we magically win 8 this year. That makes total sense. Completely plausible.

Vandy game: 400 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs.

A&M: 305 yds, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, one of which was a crucial one with less than a minute left. Still, we were up by 10 points with 7 minutes to go. It was a complete failure of the defense to stop Johnny Football that lost that game.

For a group that is quick to blame EVERY screw up by Banks on the safety, y'all sure are quick to put soft defensive play on Bo Wallace's shoulders. Keep talking yourselves into believing that Wallace cost us games. Whatever it takes to make you feel better about facing him for two more years. Granted, it'll be tough to match his Egg Bowl record of 5 TDs every year, but I expect him to get better and not worse.

I'm a packers fan, but anyone who thinks Woodson should have won the Heisman over Peyton is a ******* moron.

And yes, I am calling every single person who voted for Woodson as a Heisman winner a ******* moron.
