As of now, we only have 6 home games for 2027 and 2029. Will be interesting to see how schools deal with the 9-game SEC + P4 requirement. Could be a lot of 6-game home schedules in the future.
I read that moving the game to Atlanta allowed for Auburn to generate $5mil in NIL opportunities.

How is it that we have 13 games scheduled for next year (2026) with 8 home games? Will one of those non-conference games go away?
We'll cancel a game, most likely Troy or UL-Monroe. I'd cancel the Troy home and home to get a chance at 7 home games in 2027.

Curious, are you a season ticket holder? just gauging if there is a difference of opinion on this between ticket holders and non ticket holders. My assumption is that ticket holders would be more upset by the move compared to those that live off and can't make games.
That is probably a good tradeoff for getting money into players hands, but that is probably a bigger loss to local businesses. Should have asked local business to raise $5M in NIL and told them if not they were going to essentially sell a home game.
We’d just pay that to our existing players and continue our recruiting strategy as is. lol.
I saw the same, but much like literally everything else pertaining to NIL these days, I'd suspect that $5M is at best a back of the napkin guess and at worst a completely made up number.
I mean, clearly they're not going for free, but Auburn and Baylor aren't exactly Ohio St and Bama. Why in 17 would local businesses in Atlanta be dire to spend millions to have these two teams in town? ATL isn't exactly a city that desperate for events
In a perfect world, we'd balance the 9-game SEC schedule with the P4 requirement so you get 5 home and 5 road every year, then you buy 2 home games. SEC did that for us in 2026-2027, but we get 6-4 and then 4-6 in 2028-2029.
That seems like the best path. Hopefully Selmon sees it that way too.

I've been a season ticket holder since before i graduated in 2005.
I'd absolutely give up a home game for $5 million in NIL. The people who wouldn't are probably selfish pieces of poo.
I read on something that an Auburn home game brings in 25-35 million to the town and surrounding area. It’s kinda biting the hand that feeds you to me.
I mean it’s a long term investment.
If they get better talent, more people people will come of the same amount of people will continue to come.
If they don’t get talent, the number of people coming to auburn each weekend will drop.
Regretfully, I am not. I don't live close enough to make games easily. I am in Houston, TX.
And I certainly could see how season ticket holders and those that make the effort to go to every home game would be disappointed in having one less quality home game.
But my statement on the NIL stuff... that's our biggest shortfall against our peers. It feels like everything we can get into that bucket is probably the most bang for its buck in regards to the success of the football program.
If I were a season ticket holder, I think I'd rather go to 6 games watching a team that goes 8-4 than go to 7 games watching a team that goes 4-8.
I'm in the same boat as you.
I'm also the parent of kids who plays travel ball... we travel to a different field around NW Houston just about every weekend. The weekends that we get stay home are now treasured cause we are always on the go.
We need to get with private investors and have a game in Jackson. I hear that's never been tried before. Would be a huge windfall for everybody.
