Week two is here! It feels so good to have High School football back! The only problem is in a blink of an eye it’ll be over again. And that’s why you don’t want to miss a week. So let’s look at the Battlefield for week two.
Caroline vs Patrick Henry (Ashland)
Caroline didn’t have the season opening game I thought they would have. Just like Chancellor, they have a very, very tough start to their season. The next two or three games will have to be a learning experience for them. If they focus, work hard, and learn they’ll step into district play with surprises in the making. Don’t take this week hard Cav’s! Keep working and it’ll come together in due time. Patrick Henry with the W.
Chancellor vs Louisa
Wow! I knew the Chargers were in for a tough night against Massaponax but what I saw made me smile. The Chargers D played an awesome game and made the Panthers earn every point. The Charger QB went down in the first series and will probably sit this week out. That’s OK, the backup was learning quickly and will have a few days to get it together. This will be another tough week. Louisa is loaded and they are on a mission. I don’t believe they’ll have an easy night and will have to work hard for the points they score but in the end, Louisa gets the W.
Courtland vs Liberty Bealton
I really looked for Courtland to give Louisa a better fight but the Loins took control and kept it. This week the Cougars will be poised to get a little of that swagger back. Liberty will give them a good contest but I don’t think they’ll be able to stop the Cougars. Courtland with the W.
Eastern View @ Turner Ashby
Eastern View is the top of the Battlefield as we speak. They are there until someone proves different. Turner Ashby will give them a better game than they had last week, but it won’t be enough. The Cyclones will get the W.
King George vs Brooke Point
King George is another Battlefield team that starts with a very rough schedule. This week they face off against another larger and well-seasoned team. Just like Chancellor, I look for the Foxes to have a rough start followed by a surge. This week, they are still in the rough start stage. Brooke Point with the W.
James Monroe @ Charlottesville
From what I hear, JM showed some life in the second half against Stafford. It wasn’t enough though. Don’t worry about the Jackets, they can start slow and turn it into a very successful year. This week is another tough one. The Black Knights are no pushover! If the Jackets don’t get past them, I still wouldn’t sweat it. Hate to say it, but I see a 0-2 start. Charlottesville with the W.
Spotsylvania vs Fluvanna
OK … so what I have been hearing must be close to the truth. Folks I talk to say that there has been a change of the guard out off 208. As a sign, the Knights start the year off with a W. It took their kicker to get it, but that just shows they have weapons and know how to use them. This week they have Fluvanna. The Flucos are rebuilding and last year was probably the low point. They’ll give Spotsy a game but …. You ready for this … The Knights start this year 2-0! Spotsy gets the W!!!!!
Good luck to the players and the coaching staffs this week! Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed. Fans … make sure you are in the stands early! You don’t want to miss a single minute.
