Needless to say, I'm not the smartest person in the world and because there are just too many moving parts here for my Mississippi education to comprehend....the entire debacle comes down to whichof the two scenariosyou want to believe in regards to MSU's fate (nothing to do with Auburns, thats a whole different subject):

1) When MSU called Slime's office in January, if there had been one hint of any violation the school would have self-reported at that time. If you're here, then you're breathing easy. As far as we know, we didn't self-report any violations. so that tells me we did everything right and we do in fact have a leg up.

2) Due to the delay and indecisive MSU administration's actions, we did in fact start to realize somewhere between January and July that we had broken some type of NCAA rule. This would explain our own slow response and give indication that we would rather Cam play on and for everything to go away. In comes Meyer pushing his ESPN contacts and the thing explodes anyway.
Now we are somewhat vunerable due to whatever rule we have broken.

For me, I'm with 1.

I think our AD leaving had allot to do with not give SEC anymore info. I doubt their was any love lost between them and he knew he was leaving for Arizona. The other crap about Sydney and company is probably more of a smoke screen. We did our part in reporting initial effort. We were then doing our homework on the matter. I still believe if Auburn was a 5 and 4 team right now and CAM was not up for the Heisman they would be benching him. But like they say They are all in Now....

I also think it's possible we weren't jumping all over ourselves to implicate Auburn because we didn't want to be snitches. Newton was water under the bridge and we had checked the box of reporting our concerns in January, however casually. That's why it took till the NCAA got involved for us to get serious with our reports.

Knowing what we know about Dan and Megan and their relationship with players, do you think they were eager to screw over Cam? I think we were hoping it would just go away, which was enabled by the AD switch, and to a lesser degree Sidney/Bost...then the NCAA came calling and we had no choice but comply.
