I think Grant has a very good chance to win this one.

Johnny Roger's epic game against Oklahoma, is one of my biggest CFB memories from decades ago.

I was at the 1972 Orange Bowl to watch the great Johnny Rodgers return a 77 yard punt for a TD in #1 ranked Nebraska's humbling of Bear Bryant's #2 ranked Alabama, 38-6. It was pure magic.

Grant deserves it.

Most are saying it will be Likely from Maryland, hope Grant can take one back this week

I think it's very close between them. What I wonder, having not watched Maryland, is the extent to which KO's are squibbed or kicked directionally to keep them away from Likely.

Given how many teams now kick away from Grant, he's gotta be very high on the list for that award.

Both teams should make a handshake agreement to not kick it away from the returners this game, and let them have a true battle out there for this one.

Grant has two B10 ST POTW honors (9/14 & 11/9). Likely has one (11/2). Chesson from Michigan is the only other one for returns (10/12). The rest are punters & kickers.

Don't know for sure but looking at stats 70% of RU's kickoffs are returned, Maryland is at 66%. RU does a better job covering kicks going by average returns, Maryland and RU are fairly close in Punt Return average.

Weather, especially wind could have a big factor.

W. Likely: 22.5 yards per kick return, 17.7 per punt return, 3 total return TDs

Might come down to this weekend!

Combining kickoffs and punts, Likely has better yardage. Grant is not a slam dunk
Watch us slow down Maryland and force turnovers, giving reduced return opportunities to Grant, while punting often.

I heard Likely was banged up last week. Is he definitely playing against us?

Saw the Indiana - Maryland game after getting back from West Point. Likely hurt his ankle IIRC and left mid-way. I read he didn't practice on Tuesday and they're evaluating him day-to-day, so no idea if he plays against us.

TBD. He played CB (his natural position), WR, and returned kicks last week.
