....is that our previous AD just made a bad decision in the name of "gasp" saving money and trying to create a universal "identity." And while I understand his line of thinking, at the end of the day, we are left with football uniforms and logos that most people just don't like. His desire to have one logo that spanned across all sports is somewhat understandable, but completely unnecessary. Many on here have posted that Polk blocked the M-State logo going on the baseball caps and unis, but that LT originally wanted that. Nobody in the SEC has the same logo across the three sports, except for maybe Tennessee. It hasn't hurt Alabama to have three different logos, and it wasn't hurting us. Schools are identified by their colors and initials.
In reality, having one logo hasn't brought us one more recruit or gotten us anymore exposure or national notoriety than we had before. I am sure Russell is cheaper to work with than Nike, but all it has done is annoy the hell out of most football fans, and if anything, hurt in recruiting slightly.
In summary, unnecessary idea. Good intentions. Bad execution, and we're stuck.
