The Difference Between Mitchell and Quaintance

First, we (me) are talking about Mitchell but he hasn’t announced. But, assuming he announces he’s a Cat over the weekend, I can’t help but think about JQ. We may never see Mitchell in a UK uniform (because of NCAA) and not see the full team.

But, here are the biggest differences to me.

- It’s not Mitchell or bust. We have N’Diaye and McBride. Hawthorne, and Kam can play the position in some situations. Momcilovic can slide over. Mitchell is a scoring machine and allows others to play their more natural position.
- I’d rather take a flyer on a NCAA -vs- Court ruling than big man injury rehab. NCAA may win in the end, but they have a losing record. Big men rehab slowly-especially knees.
- The loss of JQ left us very thin. Garrison never progressed and Moreno still had freshman strength.

I want Mitchell. He’ll take UK to the next level. But, the well is not empty if he doesn’t play. Regardless of what happens, I’d rather take a flyer on Mitchell than an injured player. This is certainly not a shot at JQ. I think he tried to play and had a legitimate physical setback evidenced by another surgery. Most basketball players simply don’t recover from ACL’s that quickly.

Im guessing there will be lots of drama around this situation over the next couple of weeks. I hope NCAA surrenders when the first player on a TRO plays a football game.

Here's one tiny difference that would be easy to overlook, but I think could prove surprisingly significant:

Mark Mitchell has two working legs.

That's on the day that he signs, if he does: Not, "Lets sign him and hope he has two working legs at some point in the coming year,” which was the plan with Quaintance.

“Mark Mitchell has two working legs.”

Some say three.

Mitchell will have the same problem as JQ, Mark Pope coaching him.

Imo this is true based solely on Pope's inability to manage egos. Last year that literally tanked our season. Ya our roster was way overrated but plenty good enough to not get blown out on a regular basis.

Lets hope he made some changes to his approach, because he just added a big money, big minutes guy to a front line that thought they knew their role. That would test even the best manager, and Pope is far from even being good in that department.

Unfortunately, we don't know yet how the SEC will handle this transfer.
I’m guessing all of the football players playing under similar TRO’s will be a much bigger talking point. Players who played NFL preseason games in the last week are now suiting back up on SEC teams!!!!

Othen Milans shooting. Mitchell is likely our second best player. Just not sold on others . Team is looking a little better but honestly we had better start of season rosters the last 2 years at least on paper. I keep hearing how this roster is so much better I keep looking at it piece by piece and it doesnt add up
