is among the leaders in our record book simply tells you how absolutely dreadful we have been at QB over the years, and to an extent how poorly we have managed and developed the position.

Despite Kyle's story today, I'm sick of Tyson Lee. I'm sick of having a QB that doesn't belong on the field- whether that's Tyson or Henig. I'm also sick of hearing about how he's a wonderful person. It's almost like a girl that you dump after a blind date because you simply don't like her, and the person who set you up is spiteful, so you have to hear about it until you find another date.

I for one, hope we find our other date on Dec. 16 and that date is a supermodel. Screw the nice girls. I want some eye candy.

But you have to give him some credit. He is in no way an SEC QB, but got brought in by Croom and pretty much had to be the guy due to our lack of talent at the position. He was put in a no win situation with an offensive line that doesn't block very well, and even with that, has given us a chance to go to a bowl game this year. Most QB's aren't going to do well in that situation, but if you put one back there that is 5' 10'', its going to amplify how bad we play. I don't blame him. I just blame it on the old coaching regime and say that I'm glad that era is over.

Our offensive line, while not world beaters, has played very well this year. They have blocked very well considering what they're going up against.

Also, Tyson makes them look bad a lot of times. Instead of moving in the pocket, he freaks out and starts running like a chicken with its head cut off. There have been so many plays this year where Tyson has taken off and only gotten a yard or not moved in the pocket and gotten sacked where if he had simply moved up or over in the pocket he would have had time to make the throw easily. That makes it look like the lineman aren't doing a good job when in reality they are.

Except it was 5 freaking years of it. I still remember the sheep raining down accolades on Crooms for almost getting Perilloux. I guess he figured his one try at getting someone who looked like they might be a good QB was enough.

I have watched an OL then got whipped inside by Houston. We had some success running on the edges, but we had trouble against freaking Houston...our OL has been improved this year for sure, but dont act like they are outstanding by any means

Regardless of who brought him in...
Regardless of him "being the best we've got"...
Regardless of "having a shot at a bowl game"...

Fact still remains: he sucks. He is not qualified to play quarterback or even hold the clipboard at any other SEC School.

Our OL is much, much better than last year, but it's still only average at best. Actually, it's a little below average. It just looks good to you because a little below average is a lot better than what we got last year from our OL.

Right now we are the product of some very very terrible years of recruiting. If you don't recruit, you can't win, and Croom couldn't recruit. It's not Tyson's fault we are in the position we are in. I agree that he is not an SEC QB, but the blame for this entire situation has to fall on Croom.</p>

i hate crooms for it.

tyson deserves a little respect simply because he is trying damn hard to do his job but at the same time you have to call it like you see it. he wouldn't step on the field if we had been recruiting.

I have not keep up with his stats......I know they were not great but 4 TDs and 13 interceptions? Good gosh!

Croom had to absolutely not give a damn or totally not have an eye for talent to not sign one decent QB in 4 years. Hell, Arkansas State, Memphis.... just a few off the top of my head....have much more talented QBs than us. That is ridiculous.

I would love to get Mullen alone and ask him what he really thought of the QB situation when he arrived on campus.

I'm gonna say the vast majority of his picks are either

1) bouncing off our WR's hands
2) bouncing off a lineman
3) a WR's fault for not attacking the football

Very few are mis-reads of coverage or poor throws (unless a midget trying to throw over lineman is a poor throw). Most all of his picks are due to young WRs or Lee's size. Rudy is giving us all he has.

Great post Todd4state! I couldn't agree more either. Thankfully we now have a coach that knows what a good QB looks like and I'm confident we won't suffer thru the saga of having an undersized and unqualified QB at MSU under his watch.

I think we are good for at least one pick off a game due to a WR poor play. Either not fighting for it or bouncing off their hands.

While I wish we had better options, I think Lee does give us the best option to win with what we have. He maximizes his skill to his physical ability.

yet, at the same time, I don't feel that he totally deserves a pass. People talk about how hard he works, yet this spring Mullen was upset with Lee (and Relf) for not throwing enough in the offseason.

We've had plenty of other walk-ons like Josh Morgan, TJ Mawhinney, Brandon McRae, Lance Long, Micheal Fair, Eric Hoskins, Scott Westerfield and on and on that did the best they could and many of them were ripped on. They were not given the pass that Lee has gotten, and I don't understand it. You can some like Westerfield weren't ripped on because they performed, but was that not expected of him?

I know Lee has physical limitations, but some of his mistakes are QB 101- like executing handoffs, and not throwing it up for grabs in the middle of the field. That's not trying to make a play- that's stupid. And I won't even get into holding onto the ball way too long.

And as a sidenote, and I've mentioned this before, I sit in front of the Tyson Lee fan club at State games, so understand I get more of a dose of "Tyson can do no wrong" than most people. It's so bad that when I bring people with me to the games, I have to warn them to not say anything about Tyson, or they will be told to "get an application and see if you can do better". One of the guys I brought with me to the Florida game simply yelled at Tyson to "hurry up" during the two minute drill, and BOOM! "get an application". It's annoying.

I don't think I've ever read anything in my life that is more incorrect than this. If Lee throws the ball beyond 25 yards, it is basically a guaranteed interception. The vast, vast majority of his interceptions are from overthrown or underthrown balls. The bad thing is that his interceptions aren't the worst part of his game. He might throw 2 or 3 interceptions a game, and those hurt, but the other 20 boneheaded decisions he makes per game are what kill us. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the guy basically does everything wrong. One week from tomorrow it will all be over and we won't have to ever read any of these absurd posts where people just make **** up about the rest of our team to try to cover the number of ways that Lee screws us every game. One more week.

It's the fact that because of absolutely terrible recruiting that goes beyond even that description, he is all we have to put out there. Understand something: it is not his fault that he is on the field and that he is our best option to be on the field. He wasn't signed, he didn't ascend the depth chart over 3 and 4 star QBs. Croom failed to sign one SEC caliber QB in his entire tenure, and he left us with Lee and Relf (a guy that the staff had to coach up to get to this level, think about that). Lee is playing because we have nothing else to put out there. Thus, don't get furious at him when he struggles. He has absolutely no business being on that field. It's Croom's fault that he is. Everytime Lee throws a pick because he can't see over the line, or his pass gets batted up in the air by the DL, or something along those lines don't get too mad at Lee, get furious at Crooms. We are going to likely be home for the holidays and the reason why is Crooms and his wonderful recruiting.

and I totally agree with you. Someone should have planted drugs on him in August and got him kicked off the team.

Or would you say, 'I'm not the best in the conference, so I just won't play,' and let an inferior player take your position.

Most of us think we've got a sharp head coach running this football team. Apparently he thinks Lee is the man for the job.

We're a better team with Lee than we are without him, and I really appreciate the job he's doing.

By the way, without Lee we are probably sitting on 3 wins right now. But don't let that get in the way of your bashfest.

I honestly do not understand the hatred of Lee. The guy is not squandering talent. He puts in all he has. Again, focus your anger at Croom. Had he recruited decently, Tyson would either be a backup or he wouldn't be here. Again, don't let facts get in the way of your hatred of all things Lee. And for the record, yes I think he holds us back. At the same time I don't wish to bash a player who walked on and ended up being the best option. Think about that for a second - he walked on and is the best option right now. How can you get mad at him?

Tyson doesn't get a pass from me. There's no way around it. He is absolutely horrible and I don't understand why he gets a pass from most fans. I guess he's like the Special Olympics kid that tries really hard and gets a medal no matter where he finishes in some of our fans eyes. But his TD to INT ratio is comparable than Michael Henig's, and we mercilessly piled on Henig and still do, two years after he left. Henig wasn't that talented, and he tried hard. ****, our crappy offensive line caused him to break just about every bone that he had and he always came back from it. But we didn't give him a pass. I just don't understand why Tyson gets one when Henig didn't.

Tyson is the difference between 3-7 and 4-6. Sort of like the difference between a kick in the nuts and a punch in the face.
